ol. The status of the teacher as a professional with high order knowledge in the discipline(s) taught underpins the duties of the position. Teachers at Awty are required to be highly professional people who should indicate the highest standards of preparation for teaching and learning, punctuality and student management. The building of a positive relationship with students and colleagues is a requirement, as is the expectation that all teachers will work to enhance the mission and values of the School, as well as the Strategic Plan of the School. Teachers are responsible to the Head of School through their Division Head and the Spanish language coordinator. The role of a teacher at the School includes the following: 1. Effectively teaching a variety of classes, including undertaking appropriate lesson preparation and assessing and evaluating students as necessary. 2. Making an active contribution to enhance the overall aims and mission of the School. 3. Setting and marking students’ work accurately and promptly, giving constructive advice to students as required. 4. Establishing classroom environments that are stimulating, hardworking, focused and pleasant to be in, and which reflect the School’s declared values. 5. Diligently following the scheme of work for each class approved by the Division Head and Spanish language coordinator. 6. Assessing and responding to student abilities and progress adapting where appropriate to different individual learning styles among the students. 7. Attending and positively contributing to faculty and departmental meetings as scheduled by the Division Head, Spanish language coordinator and whole school meetings as appropriate. 8. Performing snack, lunch, recess and other Primary School teacher duties. 9. Managing the class website with calendar and syllabus. 10. Communicating effectively with parents. 11. Contributing to the wider life of the School in areas such as special projects and presentations, service learning, and by attending student events, Open House, prospective parent meetings, and other school and parent meetings. THE LANGUAGE PROGRAM Language instruction occurs at all levels of the Awty International School, PK3 to Grade 12. The School offers classes in English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Chinese, Arabic, German, Japanese, Norwegian and Russian. In the Primary School, which is PK3 to Grade 5, English, French, and Spanish are the predominant second languages. A small native language program is offered for Dutch speakers.

Possess excellent teaching skills aimed at non‐native speakers as well as native speakers; Demonstrate sound knowledge of interactive methodologies and the use of interactive white boards and other technologies. Assign appropriate homework, oral and writing tasks, quizzes, tests and essays according to the specific levels; Follow the School’s guidelines and curriculum; and Include activities to develop understanding of Spanish culture and heritage. ‐

QUALIFICATIONS  BA or equivalent in Spanish language or literature, plus a teaching (or Education) qualification  At least three years teaching experience in Spanish classes for native and non‐native speakers at the Primary School level, 5th grade and younger.  Native‐speaker Spanish proficiency with competence in English.  Ability to work collaboratively within the School  International and independent school experience preferred APPLICATIONS The position is offered as a one year contract initially, with competitive salary and conditions.
