The council was formed in the 80’s in response to Hydrilla infestations but now also addresses other forms of invasive plants. NCAWCC has an annual budget of around $400,000 to combat aquatic weed infestations in a cost-share program administered by Rob Emens in Division of Water Resources. There are 2 lakes in your region (Tillery and Badin) that are discussed in the notes and I am not sure how many are mentioned on the 2013 work plan but I thought I would send it in case you get questions. Please contact me if you would like to know more about the NCAWCC. Below is a link to Rob’s program in case you have questions about aquatic weed management.
