Safety Symbols
Lightning in a triangle warns that there is dangerous electricity inside an
appliance or product.
An exclamation mark in a triangle means there are important instructions
you should read.
A wavy line means that the appliance or product should be connected to
alternating current electricity only. Never connect an appliance or product
with this symbol to direct-current electricity. (In the U.S. and Canada, utilitysupplied electricity is alternating current.)
A dashed line below a solid line shows that the appliance or product should
be connected to direct-current electricity only. Never connect an appliance
or product should be connected to direct-current electricity only. Never
connect an appliance or product with this symbol to alternating-current
electricity. (In the U.S. and Canada, direct current is used mostly in
industrial facilities.)
A straight up-and-down line marks the “ON” position of a switch. A circle
marks the “OFF” position of a switch.
