About March Break Activities
March Break came around and it was a winter wonderland with snow everywhere!
Five different kids (one is Anna) participated in an outdoor winter activity (one being
skiing), each on a different day of the week (Monday to Friday). Can you find which
kid did what activity and on what day? Read the clues below and put an “✗” to mark
off the boxes that don’t go together, and a “✓" when you find a match. One thing is
for sure, each kid was wearing the appropriate warm clothing and had a blast!

How do we know?
1) Jose did an activity that requires a big snowy hill, but Anna did not.
a. So Jose did not go snowshoeing, skating, or built a snow fort.
b. Anna however, did not go skiing or tobogganing (they require big snowy hills)
2) Suzie, who went snowshoeing, did her activity earlier in the week than Anna.
a. Put a ✓ in the box for Suzie and snowshoeing, and therefore an ✗ for all the other
snowshoeing boxes with the other kids, and for all the other activities and Suzie
b. Suzie could not have done her activity Friday, because she did it earlier in the week
then Anna. Since we confirmed Suzie went snowshoeing, and that Suzie did not her
activity on Friday, then snowshoeing could not have occurred on Friday.
c. Anna could not have done her activity on Monday, because she did it later in the
week than Suzie.
3) Brad participated in his activity on a day that starts with the letter that is between S
and U in the alphabet.
a. That letter is of course, T. So Brad did his activity on either Tuesday or Thursday, so
we know it is not on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
4) The kid who went skiing, who wasn’t Charlie, went on a day that has 6 letters.
a. Skiing happened on Monday or Friday, so we know it did not occur on Tuesday,
Wednesday, or Thursday.
b. Charlie didn’t go skiing, and since Brad did his activity on Tuesday or Thursday, and
skiing happened on Monday or Friday, Brad did not go skiing.
c. That only leaves Jose, so Jose went skiing!
d. Since skiing happened on Monday or Friday, then that means that Jose went skiing
on Monday or Friday.
5) The kid who went tobogganing went on Friday.
a. Since tobogganing happened on Friday, and we established in the last clue that
skiing happened on Monday or Friday, we now know that Jose went skiing on
Monday!
b. Brad did not do his activity on Friday, so he did not go tobogganing.
c. That leaves Charlie who went tobogganing on Friday!
6) Anna needed to sharpen her skates for her activity.
a. This means that Anna went skating.
b. After putting the ✗ for the boxes around Anna and skating, we see that Brad is left
and he built the snow fort.
c. From what we know before, the snow fort was not built on Wednesday.
7) Suzie did her activity on Tuesday.
a. This leaves Anna to have done her activity on Wednesday, and Brad did his activity
on Thursday.
b. Now we know who did what activity and on what day
c. VOILA! Solved!
