Atrion CEO Tim Hebert to Speak at SIM Boston Breakfast Meetup
Hebert to Discuss Taking Risks, Setting Goals with IT Leaders
Warwick, R.I. – September 1, 2016 – On Oct. 12, 2015, at 5:45 am Tanzania time, Atrion’s CEO Tim Hebert successfully
summited Mt Kilimanjaro. Reaching the peak symbolized the achievement of a childhood dream; a year of training in
blizzards, rain and oppressive heat; and the mental focus needed to hike 30 miles at an elevation mostly above 10,000
feet.
Perhaps more importantly, it taught Hebert two lessons: In life, we need to set the right pace and have the discipline to
keep it; If the pace is too fast and unhealthy, failure is not far behind.
“As leaders, we must be resolved in what we set out to accomplish. But more than that, we must be resolved in the pace
we establish to reach that desired outcome,” says Hebert. “The summit is always in sight—as is another summit after
that. But if we push too aggressively, or ascend too slowly, our efforts can prove futile.”
On September 20 from 8:15-9 am, Hebert will deliver the opening address at the SIM Boston Breakfast Meetup, talking
about the business lessons he gleaned while summiting Kilimanjaro. The event—taking place at the Appalachian
Mountain Club (AMC) headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts—brings together IT leaders across a number of verticals.
According to SIM, Hebert was chosen to educate the group on the importance of taking risks, pushing yourself to new
heights and setting small, achievable goals to reach your larger life goal.
“We’re very excited to have Tim Hebert speak at our first SIM Boston Breakfast Meetup,” said Jackie Albrecht, SIM
Boston Program Co-Chair and Director of IT at AMC. “It’s great that Tim’s talk uses his mountain climbing experience as a
backdrop which aligns well with hosting the meeting at the Appalachian Mountain Club.”
For Hebert, the upcoming event presents an opportunity to pull back the curtain on core concepts like accountability,
goal setting and execution.
“I fundamentally believe that if you want to achieve great things in life, you have to share them with the world,” he said.
“When we put these things out there, we are holding ourselves accountable, but we’re also allowing others to help us
along the way. I look forward to addressing this group of extraordinary leaders to explore how each moment that we
challenge ourselves to become more is a moment that profoundly shapes our lives.”
