The Big Auchenlodment Outdoor Read – Wednesday 24 May
We are all looking forward to our reading event on Wednesday 24 th May. It will be a jammed
packed day of fun activities with the aim to promote reading. We are holding an outdoor
Book Festival in the morning where children will hear stories being read by members of the
community. Thanks to the parents who have volunteered to read at the event. We still have
spaces for any more parents who would like to read. Just contact the school or return the
slip. At 2pm we are holding a ‘picnic and read’ outside. Parents and family members are
welcome to join us and children can bring in snacks, a rug and a book of their choice.

P7 pupils will remain at school on Monday 22 May, with the bus leaving for the BBC studios
at 3.30pm. Pupils should bring a packed lunch to eat before they board the bus. They can
also bring some snacks to enjoy at the studios. Pupils will return at approximately 9.15pm.
They must be collected by an adult. Consent forms must be returned to ensure pupils go on
the trip. Mrs Scott, Mrs Nicol and Mr Carlton will be accompanying the class.
Parent Council Meeting – Wednesday 24 May
The next Parent Council Meeting will be held in the school at 7pm on Wednesday 24 May.
We will be discussing future fundraising events and talking about various aspects of life at
Auchenlodment. Please come along if you have an hour to spare, we are always looking for
new members.
Head Teacher Plea – ‘Jumped’ not ‘Jamped’
At assembly this morning we spoke to the pupils about the correct pronunciation of the
word ‘jumped’. Some children are using the word ‘jamped’ instead. Please help the school in
our goal to eradicate the word ‘jamped’ from the children’s vocabulary. We want all of our
pupils to grow up using correct vocabulary. Thank you for your support with this.
Open Evening – Thursday 1 June
You should now have received your invitation to the Open Evening which takes place on
Thursday 1 June. There are two sessions that you can select from, 3.15pm – 4.15pm or
5.15pm – 6.15pm. Both you and your child/ren should attend the showcase where the pupils
will be showing you their work and talking to you about their learning, the progress that
they have made and the targets that they have been working towards throughout the year.
It is also an opportunity for you to speak to your child’s teacher about their progress.
Please complete the reply slip which is attached to the invite.
