Our goal is to enable over 4,000 highly motivated, lowincome, DREAMers to graduate with career-ready degrees over the course of the next decade. 5 Our Shared Goals • Provide access to colleges where Scholars have the opportunity to excel academically and graduate prepared to join the work force • Achieve a 75% graduation rate • Work together to address barriers and challenges faced by DREAMers in completing a college education 6 Focus of Today’s Discussion • Renewal Process • Award Amount • Award Payment Goal: Create streamlined processes for award determination and payment that best support our Scholars and our Partner Colleges 7 RENEWING THE AWARD 8 Fall Timeline June 15th ISTS sent Scholars email with link to the renewal form July 15th Deadline for Scholars to submit renewal form August 1st Deadline For Scholars to submit Exception Request Form Supporting Documents: - Unofficial Transcript - DACA or TPS status proof: Receipt or Approval Letter or Authorization Card Exception Form: - If GPA is below 3.0 or Scholar is going to enroll PT, Scholar must complete an exception form after completing renewal form Renewal Form: - If transferring, Scholar inputs new college in form 9 Exception Process 1. By July 15th - Scholar emails ISTS Customer Care to request Exception Request Form if GPA below 3.0, need to enroll part time (less than 12 credits), or break in enrollment 2. By August 1st - Scholar completes Exception Request Form on ISTS Scholar Portal, including Scholar Advisor email & uploading supporting documents: - Academic Plan – explains how Scholar will raise GPA to 3.0 or above or complete on time - Medical leave letter 3. ISTS sends email to Scholar Advisor with instructions to approve Exception and submit any other documents 4. Scholar Advisor approves/declines exception 5. ISTS contacts Scholar if not approved, otherwise, assume it has been approved 10 AWARD 11 Fall Timeline Mid-August PC’s access Scholar Report listing new and renewal Scholars Mid-August Late Sept. PC puts a hold on Scholars Accounts so classes not dropped PC’s confirm enrollment Status, tuition and fees, and financial aid for each Scholar Late Oct. ISTS wires scholarship funds to PC with report 12 Tools for Verifying Enrollment PC’s Scholar Report: Lists names, application IDs, and birthdates of new and renewing Scholars Enrollment Data Collection Template: For confirming enrollment status of each new and renewing Scholar • Enrollment status (FT/PT) • Tuition and fees • Financial/scholarship • Estimated costs of attendance based on living arrangement Three Steps for PC’s: 1. Copy and paste data from Scholar Report into Enrollment Data Collection Template 2. Populate template with requested data 3. Your Scholarship award can ONLY be used at one of our Partner Colleges 30 Q 6: Will my award be reduced by other financial aid or scholarships? First Time College Student: The cost of your tuition and fees up to $6,250 per year/ $3,125 per term. A maximum award of $25,000 (for 4 years) Community College Graduate: A Maximum award of $12,500 per year (for 2 years) 34 35 Q 9: When will I receive my award? Late October – After your college has confirmed your enrollment and the amount of tuition and fees you owe. Will my college drop my classes? PC should put a hold on your account so they are not dropped. 36 Q 10: Will I get $ for books, supplies, & transportation? If, yes, how much? $500 per Fall and Spring terms only (Summer not included) • First applied against any unpaid tuition and fees not covered by your Scholarship • Partner College disburses remainder to you NOTE: Does not apply to Scholars attending CA Public Colleges or online national colleges 37 Q 11: What do I do if my GPA is under 3.0 or I need to enroll part-time? First things first. You can only transfer if you have applied and been accepted to the new Partner College and you are eligible for in-state tuition.
