The Space Race
Lasting from 1957 to 1975, the Space Race was an informal competition between the United
States and the Soviet Union involving parallel efforts to explore outer space. Both countries
sought to established firsts in space travel with artificial satellites, interplnetary probes,
and manned missions to the moon.
