PARENTS - In order to learn any type of measurement requires HANDS ON activities. Sit down with your child and count
pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, etc. Practice with an old clock. Practice seeing, saying, and writing time and money. Get
the yardstick and measure the length of a room, bed, table, etc. Let your child help make cookies and cakes. Give your child
his/her own calendar so the weeks, months, etc. can be easily seen. THROUGH EXPERIENCE these different
measurements will begin to take root in the mind and will gain importance in your child’s life.
USE 3 X 5 index cards and make flashcards for practice OR find ready-made flashcards at K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Office Supply
Stores, or Stone School Supply. (they are more expensive at Stone’s)
