The only of the five Great Lakes located entirely within the United States, its name is believed to have come from the native Ojibwe word “Mishigami” meaning "Great Water". All meals onboard DAY THREE – Explore Mackinac Island Today is spent on Mackinac Island, a National Historic Landmark is perfectly preserved in the charm of the bygone Victorian Era. With no cars allowed, we explore by horse-drawn carriage. Learn the history of Fort Mackinac, visit the island’s crown jewel, The Grand Hotel, and try some of the Island’s world famous fudge. All meals onboard DAY FOUR – The Soo Locks and Lake Superior Lake Superior come into view today as we pass through the Soo Locks, a set of parallel locks which pass an average of 10,000 ships per year. In Sault Ste. Marie, the oldest city in the Midwest, we visit the Valley Camp Museum Ship, whose huge cargo hold contains hundreds of interesting artifacts related to maritime history. We also visit the River of History Museum and spend some free time on historic Water Street. We visit Immaculate Conception Church, a spiritual focal point of the native community and the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation for a unique native smudging ceremony to clear away any negative energy and invite peace and harmony. Enjoy some free time in Little Current before some scenic cruising through Georgian Bay. All meals onboard thundering roar and feel the misty spray at the very foot of Niagara. We enjoy dinner in a local restaurant while our vessel traverses the Welland Canal, built in 1824 to bypass Niagara. Breakfast and lunch onboard, dinner on shore DAY SIX – Cruising Scenic Lake Huron Today we sail through Lake Huron. Named by early French explorers for the Huron people inhabiting the region, it is known for its sport fishing. The main outlet of Huron is through the St. Clair River which flows into Lake St. Clair, where we continue our cruising. All meals onboard DAY SEVEN – The Henry Ford Museum and Lake Erie Today brings us to the Henry Ford Museum, the National Historic Landmark named for its founder and noted automobile industrialist Henry Ford. The museum’s collection contains rare pieces including JFK's presidential limousine, Lincoln's chair from Ford's Theatre and Thomas Edison's laboratory. Returning to our vessel we continue our lake cruising on Erie, the smallest of the Great Lakes. All meals onboard DAY EIGHT – Niagara Falls and Welland Canal At spectacular Niagara Falls today, we enjoy an exciting “Voyage to the Falls” excursion aboard the new Hornblower cruise vessel. Hear the Witness the natural wonder of Niagara Falls DAY NINE – Lake Ontario and the 1000 Islands Called “Lake of Shining Waters” by the native Wyandot people, Ontario brings us to the beautiful 1000 Islands Region. Rich in scenic beauty, it is known as the “Garden of the Great Spirit” by the native people. Continue along the St. Lawrence River for an overnight sailing to Montreal. All meals onboard DAY TEN – Montreal and Le Festin du Gouverneur Leaving the MS Saint Laurent, a local guide joins us for a narrated tour of Montreal. We see Old Montreal, dating from the 18th-century, Notre Dame Basilica, St. Joseph Oratory, the site of the 1976 Olympics and enjoy a panoramic vista of the city from Mount Royal.
