Francophone Culture in North America Instructor: Eugene Hughes, Instructor in French Location: Samuel Phillips Hall, Room 216 April 2016 saw the first-ever publication of writings in French by Jack Kérouac, including several short stories and a version of On the Road. This class will explore ideas of culture, identity, and linguistic expression, giving special attention to the long and rich history of local francophone communities, including Kérouac’s hometown of Lowell, Mass. Peabody Museum of Archaeology Location: Peabody Museum of Archaeology This interactive lab offers the opportunity to explore 14 skull casts from apes and hominids spanning the famous 3.2-million-year-old “Lucy” to modern humans.
