NASA Opportunity for MSIs
Exciting STEM Professional Development at a NASA Center in Summer 2017
Funding from NASA Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) provides the
opportunity for Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to participate in 5-day MUREP Educator Institutes at
each of the 10 NASA Centers. Institutes are comprised of student-centered classroom activities that
utilize NASA assets and resources and will help educators develop instructional practices that will
enhance STEM instruction for all students.
• Eligible participants are U.S. citizens enrolled in pre-service or alternate route teacher preparation
programs at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs).
• MSIs are encouraged to send a team of up to 5 pre-service teachers (elementary and/or secondary
candidates in STEM fields) and a faculty sponsor.
• Participants engage in Pre-Institute online instruction, a 5-day on-site Institute experience at a NASA
Center, and on-line Post-Institute instruction.
• Participants are provided with lodging, breakfasts and lunches, and a $500 stipend.
