Correction: Chromosome 5q Loss in Colorectal
Flat Adenomas
In this article (Clin Cancer Res 2012;18:4560–9), which was published in the
September 1, 2012, issue of Clinical Cancer Research (1), in the section Translational Relevance, the sentence, "Flat lesions are a distinct type of colorectal
lesions representing a substantial part of all colorectal cancer (CRC) lesions" is
incorrect. The sentence should read as follows: "Flat adenomas, which by
definition are dysplastic, represent a distinct type of colorectal adenomas and
a substantial part of all colorectal cancer (CRC) precursor lesions."
On page 4561 of the Materials and Methods section, the sentence, "Histologically flat adenomas are usually defined as lesions whose dysplastic mucosa is
not more than twice that of the surrounding normal mucosa" is incorrect. The
sentence should read as follows: "Histologically flat adenomas are usually
defined as lesions whose dysplastic mucosa is not more than twice the thickness
of the surrounding normal mucosa."
On page 4564 of the Results section, the sentence, "APC truncating mutations
were present in 41.3% (26 of 63) of the polypoid adenomas, of which 2
adenomas contained a double truncating mutation, and in 62.9% (22 of 35)
of the flat adenomas (P ¼ 0.04; Supplementary Table S3 and Table 3)" is
incorrect. The sentence should read as follows: "APC truncating mutations were
present in 41.3% (26 of 63) of the flat adenomas, of which 2 adenomas
contained a double truncating mutation, and in 62.9% (22 of 35) of the
polypoid adenomas (P ¼ 0.04; Supplementary Table S3 and Table 3)."
The authors regret these errors.
