Antioch Kids Internship
What is Antioch Kids?
Antioch Kids is not solely about implementing a curriculum; it’s about developing a strategy. Our strategy is two-fold:
• We want to provide a stellar Sunday morning kids program where kids can learn about God and experience His
realness;
• We aim to equip parents with tools and resources so they can continue to invite their child(ren) into a lifestyle of
faith—raising them to know, love and honor God.
On Sunday mornings, the Antioch Kids program is offered for newborn babies through kids in fifth grade. During this
time, we like to have fun and get creative as we worship God and teach kids about His story. He aim to sing purposeful
songs that kids want to sing, teach lessons that kids understand, apply the Bible to the everyday life of a kid, and play
games which cause kids to laugh and make good memories at church. Antioch Kids is indeed a kid’s ministry, and we
aim to make it fun yet purposeful.
Summer Internship Overview:
As a part of our summer internship program and under the supervision of Antioch’s Children's Pastor, Linda Van Voorst,
kids ministry interns will be given the opportunity to grow in the areas of: ministry strategy, leadership development,
volunteer recruiting and retention, teaching, resource development, program implementation, administration, and event
planning. Kids Ministry interns are invited to participate in and help develop an innovative, fun, and creative kids ministry.
Opportunities for Children’s Ministry internship include: Preschool Intern, Elementary Intern, Kids Worship Intern, and
Special Events Intern.
Qualifications
• Must enjoy kids.
• Must love Jesus and believe in a good God who loves kids and wants each child to both know and trust Him.
• Must be responsible, able to follow directions, and teachable.
Kids Ministry Emphasis
Preschool Intern will:
• Create and implement weekly lessons for kids preschool-aged and younger.
• Participate in the Sunday morning programs at Antioch, specifically in the preschool program.
• Meet regularly with the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Antioch.
• Take leadership of daily kids ministry responsibilities such as administrative tasks, research, and material development for Antioch’s preschool kids ministry.
• Participate in Antioch’s annual summer VBS program by helping shape and then lead the preschool experience.
Elementary Intern will:
• Create and implement weekly lessons for elementary aged kids.
• Participate in the Sunday morning programs at Antioch, specifically in the elementary program.
• Meet regularly with the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Antioch.
• Take leadership of daily kids ministry responsibilities such as administrative tasks, research, and material development for Antioch’s elementary kids ministry.
• Participate in Antioch’s annual summer VBS program by helping shape and then lead the elementary experience.
Kids Worship Intern will:
• Create and implement a weekly worship experience for both preschool and elementary kids at Antioch.
• Meet regularly with both the Children’s Ministry and Worship Pastor at Antioch.
• Take leadership of the daily kids worship ministry responsibilities such as administrative tasks, research, and material
development.
• Participate in Antioch’s annual summer VBS program by helping create and lead the kids worship experience.
Special Events Intern will:
• Create and implement fun and meaningful experiences for both preschool and elementary kids at Antioch throughout
the Summer at special Antioch events.
• Meet regularly with the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Antioch.
• Take leadership of the responsibilities and details of each event such as administrative tasks, research, and material
development.
• Help oversee and implement multiple events, include our annual kids vbs, summer baptism, summer camp, and
more.
Our hope is that kids ministry interns develop an understanding of personal strengths and weaknesses, learn how to
critically develop and creatively apply a philosophy of children’s ministry, and gather insight into the internal workings of
both children’s ministry and the local church.
