CLUB ASSEMBLY
Treasurer’s Report

• Total funds $16,402 with obligations of $11,630
• Also announced that we will participate in the “Kick-It First” soccer tournament May 4 & 5; we need people
to man our booth that will sell food. Two and four hour shifts are needed to be filled; details to follow

• We are planning a “progressive” dinner party on April 15

• Business open houses will start after the first of the year.
Community Service

• We are in contact with Head Start to see how we can help them; what may be needed are cloths, books
and, of course, donations.
• The club will contribute $1,000 to the Restore Hope Fund on the Reservation that is the home project
championed by Kevin Stone.
• Jon Little reminded everyone that our meeting of 28th is not being held; in lieu of that, all Rotarians are
invited to the Bank of Akron’s Open House on Wednesday, February 27 from 5:30p-7p; email Jon if you
are going to attend
New Generations
(Patty Buckley)
• We have two people that will attend Slap Shot this year
• EarlyAct is trying to get off the ground; we need people to lead this group involving students that are in
grades 5-8.
• Interact Club: Ken reported that students are collecting books for Head Starts; their next meeting is
Wednesday, February 20 during 9th period
• We will participate in Youth Exchange, both inbound and outbound -- details to follow; however, we do
need families to “step up”
• Keith, Melisa, and Julie will be coordinating the 5K run with the Lions on July 6 that will be named the
“Independence Run.” Post-race party will be held at the American Legion.
• Rotary International Peace Symposium will take place in Toronto, March 2 & 3rd. RI President Sakuji
Tanaka will attend, which is a statement of how important this Symposium is.
• Our next event is the Pancake Breakfast on March 24, Palm Sunday. The committee for the event will be
Marybeth, Marilyn, Melisa, and Julie. They are looking at a number of creative things to do
o Peter H. reported that our obligations are totally funded so that the Pancake Breakfast as well as the
Clam Bake are considered “gravy.”
