What sounds simple proves to be difficult to implement in everyday situations: • How are the benefits determined? • How should user errors be dealt with? • What comes within the manufacturer’s scope of responsibilities, and within that of the operator? • How are risks identified systematically? • When and how must an operator conduct risk management, in what areas, and what practical steps must be taken? This workshop is intended to show you, as a manufacturer or as an operator, the stages in risk identification, thereby enabling you to make decisions regarding their acceptance and about measures for coping with risks. It also explains how to compile documentation in conformity with standards and legal requirements. The lecturers not only represent the viewpoints of manufacturers and operators but also show how both can work together to achieve their objectives, as well as allocating responsibilities. Practical tips, including those on documentation, are a feature of the workshop. This will enable you to improve risk management in your company and to avoid contravening regulatory and legal requirements. This workshop explains this process in a practical way, documenting it, neither too little nor too much. The workshop is intended for project managers, business analysts, product managers, user researchers and requirements engineers as well as all those engaged in projects in a practical capacity and who have or want to have a say in the analysis of requirements. You will be shown how requirements can be systematically identified and structured, so that everyone involved in the project can understand what is intended (even two days after something has been formulated). Practical templates will be used that can be deployed in one’s own projects. Academy language: German (no translation) SESSION 12 IT-BASED INTERFACE MANAGEMENT IN NURSING – REALITY OR FICTION? PDMSs can now be economically deployed, supporting medical and organisational processes, rapidly making information about treatment processes available and improving the quality of patient care. Nowadays almost all the PDMSs that are commercially available are medical products. Consequently the clinic, as the operator, has to comply with numerous directives. The introduction of a PDMS in a clinic is a project encompassing various professional groups and departments and involves physicians, nursing staff, the IT department, medical technology, controlling and accounting. Irrespective of the manufacturer, the seminar will describe what factors need to be considered during the introductory process in order to achieve smooth implementation (Rübel Consulting & Project Management). Last year risk management for the ICM from Dräger was introduced at the Unfallkrankenhaus (Emergency Hospital) Berlin. Mr. Behnisch reports on the experiences gained in setting up the risk matrix, as well as on the initial results of its implementation. Two clinics, Universitätsklinikum Regensburg and Marienkrankenhaus Soest, will describe the successful introduction process and several years of routine operation of two different PDMS systems, from a medical and an IT viewpoint and taking into consideration the Medical Product Law.
