Churchill, Manitoba • November 7–9, 2016
EXPERIENCE AN EXTRAORDINARY EVENT! World travellers come to Churchill in the fall to witness polar bears
waiting for the ice to form on Hudson Bay so that they can resume seal hunting and break many months of fasting. We will
view the earth’s largest land carnivore from the safety of a Tundra Buggy®. The tour is enriched by sightings of other wildlife,
migrating and resident birds, historic Cape Merry and the Eskimo Museum.

with the opportunity to observe and learn about these
magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

• Accommodations at the gold standard LEEDS certified Churchill
Northern Studies Centre. The study centre is located on the
traditional polar bear migration route to the Bay. Staying at
the centre provides us an opportunity to meet and learn from

Churchill over boreal forest, taiga and tundra.

was the first female PhD student to study
bears and worked for two years as the Polar
Bear Biologist for Nunavut. In 2009 she worked
with the Centre for Continuing & Distance
Education and Brunskill School Science Club
to lead grade two students to see bears in
Churchill.

Leave Saskatoon via car pool at 8:00 am on November 10, 2016.
Return by 5:00 pm on November 17, 2016 via car pool (gas costs
are included in fees). Car-pooling organization will take place at
pre-trip meetings. Train berths may be available at www.viarail.ca.
