Request from Mrs. Corson – She would like a gift card from the Dollar Store.
We would like to offer $50 to each class (there are 7 classes) which the teachers can
use by submitting their receipts up to that dollar amount for things used in the
classroom and or activities to do with the class.

Financial Report
The financial report for October is included below.
The only item we haven’t finished from last year is the soap fundraiser. Jeannie
contacted the Soap Lady and she will put together an invoice and drop it off at the
school.
Action Item
There is currently $16 319.95 in play structure account. The school put over 4k in last
year from milk and pizza profits.
Hot dog program raises over 1k in profits – currently they have spent just over $200
on sports equipment, the rest is to go to the autism class. The only thing that Council
doesn’t currently do for the hot dog program is pick up the food on a weekly basis. If
we wanted to take that on we could use the funds however we wanted to. Karen has
agreed to purchase the food next year and Lisa will store in the freezer. Rian will let
the staff know that it will run by council next year.


Old Business
Lisa called Brigil and Left a message with them but hasn’t heard back. Lisa will try and
attend the next community meeting with them and suggest a donation.
Dave’s wife Barb took a look at the outside shed and it is pretty much empty. They
have also collected a few items that can be stored in the shed for outdoor use. There
was a call put out in the last newsletter to parents to donate play items to the school.
Dave put a post on Facebook with a picture of the location of the old play structure.
There were a few comments from the local community including a local real estate
agent. We might want to try and bump up use of the Facebook account etc. to raise
community awareness about our play structure needs.

New Business
Rian contacted Chris McGarvey who was going to come and speak with us – he will
come next meeting.
Dan Fournier got back to her and based on the information he provided it is clear that
in order to use our plan to put some boulders in to form an outdoor classroom we
would need to mulch the area. It would also need to be made accessible which the
mulch would help with. He suggested 5k for a couple of rocks rather than the 5k for
ten rocks which we were counting on. If we go any bigger then we have to make the
entire thing accessible and that would raise the cost to approximately 10k. He
recommends a budget of 10 to 15k to create an outdoor classroom. We will have to
continue discussion on this.
Form 700 process has come out from the board to apply for part of the 300k grant.

The application has to be filled in by January 15 . We would find out by end of
February if we have received the grant. Rian has provided the documentation to
complete the form.
We were accepted for the Play! Grant and Lisa just contacted them to follow up and
find out what comes next.
We have a Facebook site and Dave suggests that we put all our minutes up on there.
We can’t put the files up on the page as it stands but only if we have a site listed as a
group. Dave suggests we create a group site and close it to council members for
posting purposes. Karen mentioned that it may not be overly secure to have an open

Facebook account where anyone can view it. Rian recommended having our own
parent council newsletter.
Jeannie will send Rian a copy of any of the missing minutes from last year so she can
add them to the current school site. Dave will send Rian copies of the financial reports
starting this year to put up as well. For now we will continue as we are putting the
minutes up on the school’s site.

Upcoming Events

December 11 – is our next Movie night. We were thinking of showing Minions or
Inside-Out. Lisa mentioned that raffle tickets we used this time for food items worked
really well. There may be a staff Christmas party that night so Rian may not be here.
We will have to discuss how to handle the money for that evening.

We decided to hold off on the Cake walk scheduled for February 11 We have a

movie night on the 19 but we will change it to a Date night instead.
Mrs. Lavoie suggested we put out a call for recipes at our multi-cultural night and then
make them into a cookbook using kid’s artwork.

We also received a flyer from Healthy Hunger which is a lunch ordering company that
works through local restaurants. We would have to look into this option further.
