Bewitched volume 1
It was a hot day on Mary Island and Kerry
couldn’t stop going on about her new job
at Top Notch Art Units “it’s a total surprise
to me, at school I was useless at Art and
now I have a job in it.”
Kerry is medium height, with long blonde
hair; she is quiet except when she is
excited as she was.
Zoë says, “Kerry stop going on, what if
something goes wrong tomorrow!” Kerry
answers, “Sorry, I’m so full of it.”
The next morning Kerry slept through her
alarm clock. She looked at it and she said
“bloody hell it’s 8.55am and I’m late!!”
She shot out of
her house and
ran into a
woman, she
was wearing
a black
dress, a black
pointed hat and
had a black cat
with her.
She said “you silly girl, why didn’t you
look where you were going? You knocked
me flying and hurt Cinder.s”
Kerry replied, “I’m so sorry, but I am late
for my new job” the old lady shouted,
“Sorry, you don’t know the meaning of the
word!!” Kerry replied, “It’s an apology,

and I said sorry!” The old lady says “it’s
not good enough…by day you will be a bird
of a different kind and by night you will
be a bird classed as a girl.”
Kerry asked, “What did you do to me?”
the old woman replied “Just a little magic
spell” Kerry responded “Magic! I don’t
believe in it!” As the old woman walked
away she says, “ You will…soon enough”
Kerry got to work at 9.15am. Sitting next
to her was a young girl called Amanda
who was a good witch but no-one knew
it. Amanda had long hair, which was a
strawberry blonde colour; she was slightly
shorter than Kerry.
“How did you get here…fly on a broom
stick?” asked Amanda. Kerry answered
“Try running on foot!” “My name’s Amanda
by the way.” Kerry just replied “Kerry.”
Amanda said “Nice to know you Kerry.”
At 11.30am Kerry
felt something in
her hair, she shook
her hair and out came
a brown feather! At
1.20pm Kerry’s eyes started to hurt, she
turned to Amanda and asked her to have a
look in her eyes. Amanda looks at Kerry’s
eyes and says “that’s weird they are black
and gold like a bird of prey!” Kerry said to
herself, “was that woman a witch? And did
she put a spell on me?” Kerry announced
to Amanda “I’ve got to go home and get

a doctor!” “Amanda come to my house
later it’s 23 Oak Street.”
When Kerry gets home she looks in her
little black book and says “Aah there she
is, Doctor Ruby” She calls the doctor:
“Hello Doctor Ruby speaking, how can I
help you?” Kerry says “Ruby can you come
and see me?” Ruby says, “I don’t do house
calls!” Kerry begs “Please Ruby!” Ruby
says “Ok Kerry, I will see you at 4.44pm”
Kerry replies “ Ok I will be here!”
At 4.00 Kerry found that
she couldn’t pick up her cup
of coffee as she had wings
were her arms and hands
used to be! At 4.44pm Kerry
wasn’t Kerry any more! She
had become a beautiful
brown hawk.
When Doctor Ruby came all Kerry could
say was “EEEK, EEEK”
By 7.30pm Kerry had become Kerry again,
she was woken up by a knocking at her
door. She opened the door and Amanda is
stood there “So do I come in then?” Kerry
says “Oh yes sure.” Amanda asks, “So
what did the Doctor say?” Kerry offers
Amanda a tea or coffee and Amanda says,
“Have you a Babycham?” Kerry says “Yeah
sure here you go” then Amanda says “ So
the Doc…?” Kerry replies, “ She said it
was…influenza!” Amanda said, “That will
account for the colour of your eyes, but

feathers coming out of your hair? Playing
cowboys and Indians more like!!” Kerry
says “thank-you for your diagnosis Doctor
Amanda!! But it’s influenza…influenza
ok!!” Amanda replies, “ Whatever you
say, you need to come out with the girls,
I will pick Angela and Lucy up and we will
rock the town!”
Later on that evening Angela says, “Did
you know Reiko had a sister made of
magic?” Amanda says shocked “Angela
what are you doing? Talking Witch in front
of a Norm!? Kerry has no idea that I’m
a witch!” Amanda walks up and says,
“I thought this was a girl’s night out?”
Amanda turns and says, “It is Kerry!”
In the morning Kerry confronts Amanda
over Reiko “So who is Reiko?” Amanda
says, “ I can’t tell you!” Kerry takes
Amanda’s arm and puts it behind her back
“and now?” says Kerry; Amanda says (in
pain) “ I can’t tell you!” “ Tell me or I will
break your arm.” threatens Kerry. Amanda
says, “You break my arm and you will be
in a bowl of water as you won’t be able to
live outside of one!” “Ok, tell me, what
or who is Reiko?” Amanda says “ Reiko
is…is...” “Who is she?” Kerry says. Amanda
responds, “ I wish you hadn’t asked me
that!” Kerry shouts “Amanda!” then
Amanda says “Reiko is a C.A.T” “A cat?”
asks Kerry. Amanda replies hesitantly
“No, I didn’t say cat, you did, I said CAT”
Kerry replies, “That spells cat!” I can’t
see how a cat is going to help, maybe

a dog, but a cat?” says Kerry. Amanda
says “Look Kerry you are getting smaller
and smaller, come back at 6.30pm and
I will see if Reiko will grace you with an
audience”
At 7.30pm Kerry got to Amanda’s
apartment after crashing into a pumpkin
stall, Amanda said “Nice orange look,
but you are half an hour late!” Kerry
replies “ I changed and fell down into the
pumpkins, had a case of nudity so I could
do without Amanda’s joke book tonight!”
“So lets go and
see Reiko.” Amanda
replies, “We can’t!”
Kerry asks, “We
can’t! Why
not!?” Amanda
replies “no!
Witches don’t like
helping, it’s a strict
rule of ours but I
will try again!”
Amanda goes out of the room, then comes
back again “She still says no! But we are
going there tomorrow night anyway”
Kerry says, “I’m not going from girl to
bird again! Flying makes my arms hurt!”
Amanda says “ I’m sorry but there is
nothing I can do, if I take you to Reiko

now she can make me a baby again
and turn you into a pile of dust!” Kerry
answers “I though you said she was a good
cat…sorry I mean a C.A.T.” Amanda says
“Reiko is a witch, a high witch, but no one
has seen her for 8 years, she was last seen
when she was 10 years old but since then
she has been a cat or a C.A.T”.
The next night at 6.30pm Kerry flew
into Amanda’s apartment with a dead
rat in her beak, she went into Amanda’s
bedroom to borrow some clothes. When
Amanda got home she says, “Honey I’m
home…oh I’m not married.” Kerry walks
in: “if you are why wasn’t I invited to the
wedding? And I’m sorry about your mini
skirt.” Amanda answers, “No it looks good
on you!” Kerry asks, “So what’s going on
down in Reiko land?” Amanda answers
“there is a meeting with her tonight,” as
she walks to her bedroom she carries on
talking “I have to go and get changed.”
An hour went by while Amanda changed
into her witch clothes. When they got
to the coven hut from left to right there
were girls dressed in black with black
pointed hats. At the top of the hall on a
big chair sat a small black cat, Amanda
went up and curtsied and said “Reiko, I
come before you with Leanne who is in
misfortune.” The cat eyed Kerry dubiously
up and down, jumped down off the chair,
in a puff of smoke and a shower of stars
the cat became an 18 year old girl. Reiko
shouted at Amanda “AMANDA HOW DARE

YOU BRING A NORM INTO MY COVEN!”
Amanda apologises saying “Sorry Reiko!”
Reiko turns to Kerry and says “As for you
there’s nothing wrong with you.” Kerry
curtsied again and said “Reiko, your
magicalness, just hear me out. A week
ago I was late for my new job, I ran into
a lady in black and she put a spell on
me so by day I’m a hawk, a bird of prey
and I’m myself, a girl of 24 years old, by
night.” Reiko says “there’s not a lot I can
do without her name or the cat’s name!”
Kerry responds, “Yes the cat is Cinders.”
Amanda turns to Reiko and says “is that…?
(Gulp)” Reiko answers “Yes Amanda. Kerry,
you’ve met the worst black witch of the
lot! Shadow Weaver!” Kerry says, “Who
is she!?” Reiko says “My opposite in black
witch craft! “I’m going to take you back
to that day so that it will play out again.
If you beat a Shadow Weaver you will have
no knowledge of me, if you fail you still
have no knowledge of me and you will
never find me.” Kerry says “Thank you so
very much Reiko.”
Reiko turns back to Amanda
“Now for you Amanda”
“Yes, Reiko.” “You broke
one of my rules and you
will pay, you will cheer
with no sound, you will look
pretty as gold.” In a puff
of smoke Amanda became
a cheerleading trophy! On
the top of the trophy there was a little
figure that looks like Amanda.

Reiko says to Kerry “it’s time for you
to put right what once went wrong and
Amanda will be fine!”
The next
thing Kerry
knew was it
was Monday
morning
8.55am; she
looks at her
clock and says, “Bloody hell, I’ve done it
again!” She shot out of her house, round
to Shadow Weaver, Shadow Weaver says,
“Why don’t look where you are going,
you knocked me flying and hurt Cinders!”
Kerry says, “I’m so sorry, my fault, I was
in a rush, I’m late for work!” Shadow
Weaver says, “ Very well, just look where
you are going in future!”
Kerry got into work; the one difference
was no Amanda. The manager asked “has
anyone seen Amanda?” Kerry answers,
“Yes, she has influenza!”
Later that morning Kerry had an
uncomfortable feeling in the back of her
head, was it a feather!? She shook her hair
and out fell a hair clip.
