1. The Allies launched the Meuse-Argonne
Offensive in late September 1918 to break through
the German line and reach the Sedan railroad—the
main line of support and communication for the
German troops.
2. More than 1 million American soldiers took
part in the six weeks of fighting. The Allies won, and
the war ended soon after, on November 11, 1918.
