1. An organism is a living thing.
2. Carbon Dioxide is a gas in the atmosphere that plants use during photosynthesis.
Humans give plants carbon dioxide and plants give us oxygen.
3. Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use the sun’s energy to make food. They
need water, sunlight and carbon dioxide to go through this process.
4. A producer is an organism that makes its own food. Plants are producers.
5. Chlorophyll is the green substance in plants that captures/absorbs the sun’s energy.
6. When something is resting or inactive we call it dormant.
7. When a seed begins to develop or grow it is called germination.

23. Decomposers are organisms that break down dead plants and animals.
24. A niche is an organism’s role or job in an ecosystem.
25. Omnivores are animals that eat both plants and animals.
26. Herbivores are animals that eat only plants.
27. Consumers are animals that eat other organisms.
28. Habitat is the place where an animal lives.
