1. Getting Started
1.1 Getting Around
Welcome to the TD Advanced Trading Platform, a service offering a powerful suite
of tools, analytics and research designed to help you seize opportunities. With TD
Advanced Trading Platform, you can benefit from an intuitive trading interface featuring
built-in layouts used widely by investors and take advantage of many customisation
features to support your unique strategy.
1.1.1 Top Navigation Pane:
(1): Search Symbol: Lets you look up symbols quickly and easily by
entering a name or a symbol.
(2): Add Components and (3): Layout: Menu selections from which
you can create customised views and change the layout style to suit
your needs (not available within default trading layouts).
(4): Settings: Used for creating custom set ups in TD Advanced
Trading Platform.
All of your personal settings are stored remotely on our servers so
you will always have access to your customised setup, no matter
what computer you use.
Built-in Trading Layouts: (5): Today, (6): Trade, (7): Market Watch,
(8): Charts, (9): Stock Screener.
(10): Add Custom View: Create your own view to suit your trading
style by selecting a layout, adding components and linking them
together
1.1.2 Buying and Selling from components:
Start a new Buy or Sell order by clicking either (1): Buy or Sell or
the (2): Bid or Offer prices. You can also right click within the
(3):Component window to start a new Buy or Sell order. 3

1.1.3 Component Controls:
(4): Maximize/Restore icon: to toggle the component between
maximized and regular mode.
(5): Close icon: to remove the component from view (only available in
custom views).
(1): Menu icon: for customising the component.
(2): Link Mode: icon for changing the symbol broadcasting/receiving
behaviour.
(3): Show/Hide configuration bar icon: to toggle the configuration
pane below.
1.1.4 Component Link Mode:
(4): Broadcast to channel. Set the channel the component
broadcasts on.
Each component can have its behaviour configured for broadcasting /
receiving symbols to / from other components in the active tab. When
clicking or entering a symbol anywhere in TD Advanced Trading
Platform, the symbol is broadcast to the selected channels. Any
component listening on that channel will change its symbol to the
new symbol.
Example: The Heat Map component on the Today tab is set to
broadcast symbols to Channel 1 (Blue). The Chart and Quote
Detail components on the Today tab are set to receive symbols
from Channel 1 (Blue). When clicking a symbol on the Heat Map in
the Today tab, the symbol will be populated into the Chart and Quote
Detail components.
Click on the (1): Link mode icon to display the (2): link mode
options box.
(3): Receive from channel. Set the channel the component listens on.

1.1.5 Undocking Components:
Right-Click on the (1): Component label and select (2): Undock. This
component can now be freely moved around your workspace.
On custom views, you can undock (i.e., detach) components to their
own separate window by right-clicking on the component label and
selecting undock.
1.1.6 Optimise Column Width:
In various components like Alerts, Markets, Most Active, Stock
Views (Workspaces):
Screener, and Watch List, you can automatically adjust the column
width to the minimum required by right-clicking on the data within
the desired column and selecting Optimise Column Width.
On all built-in and custom views, any changes to the setup are saved
when switching between different views. To manually save the
workspace click on “Layout” and then “Save Workspace”.
Right-Click on the data within the desired column to display the
(1): General Menu and select (2): Optimise Column Width.

(4): Reload Workspace: Reverts workspaces to the previous saved state
(5): Reset Workspace: Restores TD Advanced Trading Platform to its
default state
(1): Layout: displays the list of available layout options
(2): Save Workspace: Saves the current workspace views
(3): Clear Workspace: On custom views, this deletes all components
from the current workspace (only available in custom views)

1.3 Custom Views
Create your own view using the Flexsheet, Desktop, and Accordion
Pane workspaces to suit your trading style by selecting a layout,
adding components and linking them together. You can create as
many additional views as you like, but creating more than 10 may
affect your systems performance.
1.3.1 Flexsheet
(3): Add Components menu.
Resize the components by placing the mouse over the (4): horizontal
edges, then click and drag. If desired, you can move components up/
down by clicking and dragging the (5): Component’s title bar.
Delete components by clicking the (6): Close icon in the top right of
the component.
Click (1): Add Custom View, and then select the
(2): Flexsheet workspace to set up a grid of components.
Add components to each box by clicking the “+” icon or the

Click (1): Add Custom View, then select the (2): Desktop workspace
to set up a flexible arrangement of components.
Add components by clicking (3): Add Component and then select the
component.

Arrange the layout by right-clicking and selecting Tile, Tile and
Fill, or Cascade from the desktop tools menu.

ƒƒ Tile: Arranges all components in a tiled format.
ƒƒ Tile and Fill: Arranges all open components in a tiled format and
uses empty space to resize components.

2.1 Analytics
The Analytics component provides key data on the security’s recent
performance, ratios and trading details (i.e. day high/low).
2.1.1.1 Analytics Component View:
ƒƒ Company Profile: Display the company description, fundamental
data, management, and key reporting dates.
ƒƒ Analyst Evaluations: Compilations provided by Thomson Reuters
which are aggregates of analysts’ buy, outperform, hold,
underperform, and sell recommendations for each of the subject
companies. TD Direct Investing provides these compilations for
your information only and they are not our recommendations. TD
Direct Investing does not provide recommendations or advice to
its Direct Investment clients.
ƒƒ Financial Statements: Display the company’s balance sheet, profit
and loss statement, and cash flow.
ƒƒ Dividends & Capital Changes: Display the company’s historical
dividend payments and capital changes.

2.2 Market Depth
2.2.1 Market Depth Component:
The Market Depth component provides access to streaming Level
2 quotes for all UK and US-listed securities that are traded on the
FTSE, AIM, and NASDAQ exchanges. To receive Level 2 quotes, the
Optional Data package must be added through the TD Advanced
Trading Platform homepage. (Please Note: Only the 10 closest bid and
offer prices are displayed)

The Heat Map component provides a visual representation of the

The Alerts component provides the ability to create, view and modify
automatic notifications for stocks based on real-time market activity.

2.11 Charts
The Chart component is an advanced analytical tool that generates
various types of charts based on fundamental and technical
indicators. Each chart style (e.g., line, area, candlestick, bar etc.)
can be customised to display historical pricing across multiple
time intervals and enables traders to save and apply templates for
comparative analysis.

The Watch List component provides the ability to maintain a custom
list of securities with streaming real-time data providing an in-depth
view of market activity.
2.12.1 Watch List Component:
The Ticker, Change and % Chg columns indicate if the security is up
(green), down (red), neutral (black).

ƒƒ Select Performance Graphs to display a graph with the number of
securities that are up/neutral/down.
The Bid, Offer, Bid Sz, Offer Sz columns indicate if the column is up
(green), down (red), neutral (black) based on each tick.

The Portfolio component displays the holdings in your account(s) with
real time price information.

3.2 Order Ticket
The Order Ticket window allows you to place a trade on your TD
Direct Investing account.
When initiating a buy or sell action from any component within the
TD Advanced Trader Platform the order details are pre-populated for
you to review. A buy or sell action can be initiated by clicking on the
Buy or Sell buttons, clicking on the Bid or Offer price, or by right-click
inside the component and selecting Buy or Sell. For more details,
please refer to the help section for the specific component.
Step 1: Order Ticket:
7. Settlement Period: Select a settlement period from T+2, T+5,

The supporting document provides you with additional information
such as the arrangements the ETF fund manager has in place for
handling complaints about the product, whether compensation
might be available from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme

the product and information about any cancellation rights.
The verify order page gives details of your order and any warnings
that you may need to review and agree to before clicking Place Order.

Key Investor Information Document:
We are required to provide you with a Key Investor Information
Document (KIID) and the appropriate supporting document before
you make an investment in a UK Listed Exchange Traded Fund (ETF).
By ticking the box on the Verify Order page you are confirming that
you have been provided with the KIID and any appropriate supporting
document.
Rather than being marketing material, the KIID provides you with
key investor information about the ETF. The information is required
by law to help you understand the nature and the risks of investing
in a particular ETF. The KIID includes information about the ETF’s
objectives, investment policy, risk and reward profile and past
performance. The documents can also be found by navigating to the Funds section
under Markets & Research Menu of the secure TD Direct Investing
website.
UK Orders: Due to Price Capture trading system on UK, the Place
order on some orders is disabled after 15 seconds count down, click
Refresh to obtain a new firm quote and to restart the count down
You are advised to read it so you can make an informed decision
about whether to invest.
International Orders: Place Order does not have any count down
Supporting documents that we are required to provide vary
depending on what documentation the ETF fund manager has
produced. It will normally be a Simplified Prospectus but it could
also be a Key Features Document, a Supplementary Information
Document or a Full Prospectus.
