Getting Started 1.1 Getting Around Welcome to the TD Advanced Trading Platform, a service offering a powerful suite of tools, analytics and research designed to help you seize opportunities. With TD Advanced Trading Platform, you can benefit from an intuitive trading interface featuring built-in layouts used widely by investors and take advantage of many customisation features to support your unique strategy. 1.1.1 Top Navigation Pane: (1): Search Symbol: Lets you look up symbols quickly and easily by entering a name or a symbol. (2): Add Components and (3): Layout: Menu selections from which you can create customised views and change the layout style to suit your needs (not available within default trading layouts). (4): Settings: Used for creating custom set ups in TD Advanced Trading Platform. All of your personal settings are stored remotely on our servers so you will always have access to your customised setup, no matter what computer you use. Built-in Trading Layouts: (5): Today, (6): Trade, (7): Market Watch, (8): Charts, (9): Stock Screener. (10): Add Custom View: Create your own view to suit your trading style by selecting a layout, adding components and linking them together 1.1.2 Buying and Selling from components: Start a new Buy or Sell order by clicking either (1): Buy or Sell or the (2): Bid or Offer prices. (5): Close icon: to remove the component from view (only available in custom views). (1): Menu icon: for customising the component. (2): Link Mode: icon for changing the symbol broadcasting/receiving behaviour. (3): Show/Hide configuration bar icon: to toggle the configuration pane below. 1.1.4 Component Link Mode: (4): Broadcast to channel. Set the channel the component broadcasts on. Each component can have its behaviour configured for broadcasting / receiving symbols to / from other components in the active tab. When clicking or entering a symbol anywhere in TD Advanced Trading Platform, the symbol is broadcast to the selected channels. Any component listening on that channel will change its symbol to the new symbol. Example: The Heat Map component on the Today tab is set to broadcast symbols to Channel 1 (Blue). The Chart and Quote Detail components on the Today tab are set to receive symbols from Channel 1 (Blue). When clicking a symbol on the Heat Map in the Today tab, the symbol will be populated into the Chart and Quote Detail components. Click on the (1): Link mode icon to display the (2): link mode options box. (3): Receive from channel. This component can now be freely moved around your workspace. On custom views, you can undock (i.e., detach) components to their own separate window by right-clicking on the component label and selecting undock. 1.1.6 Optimise Column Width: In various components like Alerts, Markets, Most Active, Stock Views (Workspaces): Screener, and Watch List, you can automatically adjust the column width to the minimum required by right-clicking on the data within the desired column and selecting Optimise Column Width. On all built-in and custom views, any changes to the setup are saved when switching between different views. To manually save the workspace click on “Layout” and then “Save Workspace”. You can create as many additional views as you like, but creating more than 10 may affect your systems performance. 1.3.1 Flexsheet (3): Add Components menu. Analyst Evaluations: Compilations provided by Thomson Reuters which are aggregates of analysts’ buy, outperform, hold, underperform, and sell recommendations for each of the subject companies. Quote trend: Indicates the change in the Bid and Offer price Range: The lowest and highest prices at which a stock has traded Day High: The highest price at which a stock has traded during the course of the day Range: Indicates the Open (Vertical Bar) and Last (White section) price inside the Day Range (Red and Green section) Day Low: The lowest price at which a stock has traded during the course of the day Trend: Indicates the last tick by a green (up), red (down), or grey (even) bar Dividend Date: The date on which a declared dividend is scheduled to be paid Volume: The total number of shares traded. Year high: The highest price at which a stock has traded during the course of the last year EPS: The portion of a company’s profit allocated to each outstanding share of ordinary (common stock). EPS serves as an indicator of a company’s profitability. Year low: The Lowest price at which a stock has traded during the course of the last year Ex Div Date: The date which a client would need to hold shares by to be entitled to dividend payments. Yield: The return earned on an investment taking into account the annual income and its present capital value. There are a number of different types of yield, and in some cases different methods of calculating each type. Last price: the last reported trade price Last Trade size: The last reported trade size Market Cap: Is the market value of a company’s outstanding number of shares. This figure is calculated by multiplying the stock price by the total number of shares outstanding. When initiating a buy or sell action from any component within the TD Advanced Trader Platform the order details are pre-populated for you to review. A buy or sell action can be initiated by clicking on the Buy or Sell buttons, clicking on the Bid or Offer price, or by right-click inside the component and selecting Buy or Sell. For more details, please refer to the help section for the specific component. Step 1: Order Ticket: 7. Settlement Period: Select a settlement period from T+2, T+5, 1. The verify order page gives details of your order and any warnings that you may need to review and agree to before clicking Place Order. These may include the following: Key Investor Information Document: We are required to provide you with a Key Investor Information Document (KIID) and the appropriate supporting document before you make an investment in a UK Listed Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). By ticking the box on the Verify Order page you are confirming that you have been provided with the KIID and any appropriate supporting document. Rather than being marketing material, the KIID provides you with key investor information about the ETF. The information is required by law to help you understand the nature and the risks of investing in a particular ETF. The KIID includes information about the ETF’s objectives, investment policy, risk and reward profile and past performance. The documents can also be found by navigating to the Funds section under Markets & Research Menu of the secure TD Direct Investing website.
