There are some matches between the Cattle survey and the NAHMS-Cattle on Feed Survey.
Please enumerate the Cattle and the NAHMS together. Obtain the NASS Cattle survey data
first before seeking the consent form for the NAHMS survey. The Cattle survey should be
returned via MOST. The NAHMS consent form should be returned to the Regional
Field Office no later than June 23.
Write good notes on any answer that you think would require further explanation.
If the operation is no longer in business, try to find out who has taken it over.
If the herd has been liquidated, find out if the former dairy operator is still in agriculture of
any kind.
Cows milked yesterday must be less than or equal to all milk cows.
Pounds of milk per cow are normally between 30 and 95 lbs. Those that fall outside of this
range need comments.
1 gallon of milk weighs 8.6 lbs. The stat will convert from gallons to pounds.
Expect values of milk cow replacements to range from $750 to $2,100. Anything nearing the
limits of range need comments to justify the data.
The hay questions ask for quantity purchased or sold as well as total money paid or received
