Foundation Newsletter
27th November 2015
Parents/Carers,
The children have all really enjoyed parents’ week, thank you to everyone who gave their time
during this special week. I hope you found it as valuable and enjoyable as the children did.
Next week we will begin the countdown to Christmas. We will read the Christmas story from
the children’s bible and link it to the story of the Nativity. We will spend a lot of time
practising for the Christmas production, rehearsing our dances and singing the songs from
the performance.
All costumes for the Christmas production need to be in school by Monday (30th November),
please make sure you send them in a bag, clearly marked with your child’s name.
Angels—knee-length white T-shirt.
Cows—white T-shirt and black shorts.
Sheep— white T-shirt and black shorts.
Birds—black T-shirt and black shorts.
Pigs—pink T-shirt and white shorts (red or white T-shirts will do if you struggle to find a
pink one).
Cats—black T-shirts and black shorts.
Any questions about costumes, please just ask.
The children will continue to practise repeating patterns, by making repeating pattern paper
chains to decorate the classroom. They will also draw and label a snowman or Father
Christmas, using phonic knowledge to support spelling. We will read a variety of Christmas
themed stories and our book of the week is ‘Stick Man’ by Julia Donaldson.
Differentiated maths, phonics and guided reading will continue this week. All children will
also produce a piece of independent writing for their writing scrap book.
Please make sure the snacks you send to school are healthy, fruit or cereal bars are the most
suitable. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in yogurt tubes for snack
time, these are more suitable for lunch time as they can be very messy for the classroom.
If there is anything you are unsure about, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Have a lovely weekend with your family.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Matt Harrison and Jess Griffin, EYFS teachers.
