What are Knowledge Alliances?
• Large-scale cooperation projects between higher
education institutions and enterprises
• open to any discipline, sector and to crosssectoral cooperation
• Goals:
• To increase innovation potential and longterm co-operation between education and
the world of work
• Exchange of information and transfer of
innovations
• Develop new, innovative and multidisciplinary
approaches to teaching and learning
• Stimulate entrepreneurship and
entrepreneurial skills
Possible activities,
for example
• Development of teaching methods,
multi-disciplinary curricula and joint
degree programmes in co-operation
with enterprises (also continuing
educational programmes)
• Support for and development of
multi-disciplinary, student-centered
and problem-oriented studies
• Entrepreneurship education in any
discipline
• Schemes of transversals skills'
learning in cooperation with
enterprises
• Projects may include small-scale
mobility if it supports the goals of the
project
Knowledge Alliances Prerequisites
• Max. about 20 projects / year in
Europe (in 2016)
• funding max. € 1 Million / project
• Minimum partnership: 6 organisations
from 3 participating countries
• Among the 6 organisations 2 HEIs and
2 enterprises required
• All types of organisations may
participate and act as applicant
• May include organisations from partner
countries if they bring added value
