“He went through life with his hands firmly
shoved into his pockets. She danced.”
― Fredrik Backman, A Man Called Ove
Just in!
Man Called Ove- Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon, the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars
caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him the bitter neighbor from hell, but must Ove be bitter just because he doesn't walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time? Behind
the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young
daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove's mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a
local residents' association to their very foundations.
Chasing Fireflies- They have one summer to find what was lost long ago. "Never settle for less than the truth," she told him. But
when you don't even know your real name, the truth gets a little complicated. It can nestle so close to home it's hard to see. It can
even flourish inside a lie. And as Chase Walker discovered, learning the truth about who you are can be as elusive--and as magical-as chasing fireflies on a summer night. A haunting story about fishing, baseball, home cooking, and other matters of life and
death...
Winter Study- Soon after Anna Pigeon joins the famed wolf study team of Isle Royale National Park in the middle of Lake Superior, the wolf packs begin to behave in peculiar ways. Giant wolf prints are found, and Anna spies the form of a great wolf from a
surveillance plane. When a female member of the team is savaged, Anna is convinced they are being stalked, and what was once
a beautiful, idyllic refuge becomes a place of unnatural occurrences and danger beyond the ordinary…
The Sea Keeper’s Daughters- Restaurant owner Whitney Monroe is desperate to save her business from a hostile takeover. The
inheritance of a decaying Gilded Age hotel on North Carolina’s Outer Banks may provide just the ray of hope she needs. But things
at The Excelsior are more complicated than they seem. Whitney’s estranged stepfather is entrenched on the third floor, and the
downstairs tenants are determined to save the historic building. Searching through years of stored family heirlooms may be Whitney’s only hope of quick cash, but will the discovery of an old necklace and a depression-era love story change everything.
Lucky Us- "My father's wife died. My mother said we should drive down to his place and see what might be in it for us." Brilliantly
written, deeply moving, fantastically funny, Lucky Us introduces us to Eva and Iris. Disappointed by their families, Iris, the hopeful
star, and Eva, the sidekick, journey across 1940s America in search of fame and fortune. Iris's ambitions take them from smalltown Ohio to an unexpected and sensuous Hollywood, across the America of Reinvention in a stolen station wagon, to the jazz
clubs and golden mansions of Long Island. With their friends in high and low places, Iris and Eva stumble and shine through a landscape of big dreams, scandals, betrayals, and war. Filled with gorgeous writing, memorable characters, and surprising events,
Lucky Us is a thrilling and resonant novel about success and failure, good luck and bad, the creation of a family, and the pleasures
and inevitable perils of family life. From Brooklyn's beauty parlors to London's West End, a group of unforgettable people love, lie,
cheat, and survive in this story of our fragile, absurd, heroic species.
Anatomy of Murder- First published by St. Martin's in 1958, Robert Traver's Anatomy of a Murder immediately became the
number-one bestseller in America, and was subsequently turned into the successful and now classic Otto Preminger film. It is not
only the most popular courtroom drama in American fiction, but one of the most popular novels of our time. A gripping tale of
deceit, murder, and a sensational trial, Anatomy of a Murder is unmatched in the authenticity of its settings, events, and characters. This new edition should delight both loyal fans of the past and an entire new generation of readers.

Death in Bloodhound Red
Would not recommend it to another group. It is more like a beach read. Entertaining story but not
much depth. It did not make for good discussion at book club.
