When a sentence has a compound subject with a singular subject conjoined by
neither /nor or either/ or, then the verb must agree with the subject closest to
the line of separation.
Neither the panda bear nor the zebra eats red meat for dinner.
Either the eggshell or my finger nail has ruined the soup. Neither Connie nor Dolorous wears lip stick. Either Eddie or Morris is guilty of the unsolved crime.
