LWCS Community, Due to the fact that we are still in our “winter

LWCS Community,
Due to the fact that we are still in our “winter weather season,” please be aware
of two weather-related scenarios.
1) According to our handbook, when conditions worsen during the day after
school has started, we will notify the families as soon as possible through
local media outlets, as well as through Parent Alert, that school would be
dismissing early. We will certainly give as much notice as possible to keep
all concerned as safe as possible. This applies to all campuses; however the
extended care at CPS will remain open unless specifically stated.
2) Additionally, there may be some days where travelling early in the morning
is not prudent, but the conditions quickly improve. In this case we will
notify our families of a “Late Start Day.” In this situation:
a. CES, CMS, and CHS will delay the start of the school day by 2 hours.
For example, CES would start at 10:15 rather than 8:15. CMS and
CHS would start at 10:00 rather than 8:00.
b. Lunches would be served as usual @ CPS and CES.
c. For CMS and CHS lunches:
“Hot lunch will be served if lunch for the day happens to be ordered in, such as Chick FilA, Papa Johns, or Mr. Goodcents. However, the cash window, along with the Eagle
Express window will be open for lunch with the usual items available for purchase such
as salad bar, nachos, bagels, fruit, pizza rolls, uncrustables, etc. There will not be credit
given to be used at the concession window if your student had pre-ordered, items will
be for sale for cash or at the Eagle Express windows.”- The Kitchen Staff
d. Again, this applies to all campuses; however the extended care at
CPS will remain open unless specifically stated.
e. ½ day programs at both CPS and CES will not meet on these days.
f. (Note: Faculty and staff will report 30 minutes prior to the beginning
of school.)
We want to be sure to balance the need for school attendance and safety for our
entire school family.
Sincerely,
Patrick Turner
