CHURCHVILLE SCHOOLHOUSE
Immerse Students in a Living History Experience
You don’t have to go far
to experience …
The Best
Education in History
Learning about local history has never been more engaging or
memorable! A visit to the Churchville Schoolhouse, a National Register
of Historic Places site, is an interactive experience that takes children
back to the early 1900s when Elmhurst farm children attended school
in this one-room structure. Students meet the schoolmarm, and learn
lessons like turn-of-the-century children with McGuffey readers, slates
and discipline. Spelling bees (using your current spelling list), recitation,
and math facts will be included, and recess with old-fashioned games is
part of the experience (time permitting). Programs available yearround! Book now to ensure your preferred spot is available for the
2016-2017 school year. Call 630-833-1457 or submit a program
request form at www.churchvilleschoolhouse.org.

Exhibit
In Her Own Right: Marion
Mahony Griffin
October 7, 2016 – March 12, 2017
Marion Mahony Griffin was much more
than a talented artist and architect: she
was the backbone of the Prairie School
of Architecture who brought the work
of many more famous architects to life
including her husband, Walter Burley
Griffin, and the inimitable genius Frank
Lloyd Wright. Her often uncredited
work includes detailed, sumptuous
renderings of such masterpieces as
Falling Water, Unity Temple, the Plan for Canberra, and many more.
Find out more about this pioneering architect who paved the way in a
field where few women dared to tread.
