Pastor’s Reflection on the Gospel
.TRUST: “In God We Trust” marks
the currency of our nation. It should
mark our lives as well. In fact,
however, we hesitate to trust
others, including God, absolutely.
We prefer to hold our trust in
reserve, fearful of being hurt or
betrayed. Today’s readings remind
us that Lent is a season of trust—a
trust that transforms.. God makes a
remarkable promise to Abraham.
To receive this promise, all
Abraham need do is trust. Paul tells
the Philippians that they too must
trust that they are the beneficiaries
of God’s bountiful grace; that they
are not citizens of any earthly
kingdom, but citizens of heaven.
These two readings invite us to
hear the Gospel account of deep
trust—trust that God will fulfill all
promises and that Jesus’ passage
will lead to transformation and
new life.

In the Roman Catholic Church, the ritual Washing of Feet is
associated with the Mass of the Lord's Supper, which celebrates in a
special way the Last Supper of Jesus, before which he washed the
feet of his twelve apostles. We are asking all Organizations to have 1
representative for the Washing of Feet. Total numbers needed is
twelve. Please call the office at (713) 672-0026 with the name of your

Seder Meal
Have you ever wondered what kind of meal Christ shared with
the Apostles at the Last Supper? The Seder “order,
arrangement” is a ritual feast performed by a community,
involving the re-telling of the story of the liberation of the
Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. The Seder itself is
based on the biblical verse commanding Jews to retell the story
of the Exodus from Egypt: “You shall tell your child on that day, saying, ‘It is because of what
the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’” (Exodus13:8). The Seder is an occasion for
praise and Thanksgiving and for re-dedication to the idea of liberation. You are invited to join
our parish family for the observance of the Seder meal on Thursday, March 28th in the Social
Center from 5:45pm—6:45pm. We ask that each person bring a dish in accordance with your
last name: A-H—Meat, I-P—Vegetables, Q-V—Side Dishes (Starches), W-Z—Desserts.
