Working together we will give our children roots
to grow and wings to fly …
Issue 90, May/June, 2013.
Summer Fair
We just wanted to say thank you so much for everything
you did to support us to make this year’s summer fair just
as fantastic as previous ones. You turned up despite the
overcast weather to support us, you baked fantastic
cakes, you cleared out toys and bottles galore for our
tombolas and you munched your way through our burgers, sausages and sausage rolls. We really
appreciate everything you did to make the day a success. It looks like we have raised approaching £1,100 and we will keep you posted with the resources we purchase. We are busy scouring
the catalogues and making decisions … so watch this space!!
We hope you all had lots of fun and raffle prizes will soon be winging their way to you if you
have been a lucky winner and have yet to collect – June is busy sorting as we write today (she
would like to say a special thank you to Helen Payne and James and Olivia Clifford, without
whose help in folding the tickets the raffle would never have been drawn)! Thank you again to
our generous donors:
Ibis Hotel Manchester, Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa, Iveridge Hall, Freedom
Accountancy, Scarlett Mae Beauty, Diggerland Castleford, Howgate &
Farrar, Kelly Jo Photography, Brown or White, Toby Carvery Oulton,
Cameo Allerton Bywater, Carmon Hair Design, Amma Designs, Lindsay Mann
Photography, McDonalds Colton, Domino’s Pizza, G.J’s Fish and Chips,
Sweetarella, The Mobile Cupcake Company, Smiffies, Co-op, The Three
Horseshoes, Alister’s mummy, Sam’s mummy and ALL the other parents and
staff who donated prizes and busily baked fantastic cakes!!!
Please let us know if you have any ideas for future summer fairs as we are always looking to improve and develop this fun day even further so your feedback, ideas, comments etc. are invaluable to us.
It was great to see some of the children who will be joining us shortly. Thank you to their
mummies and daddies for bringing them along to sample the fun. Also the invitation extends to
all of our children who are leaving. Please do come back to next year’s summer fair … look out
for the bunting and sign going up, as each year we have lots of our ‘golden oldies’ coming back to
say hello and we LOVE to catch up on your latest news and see how much your children have
grown.
Pot hole news
We hope you will notice that the pothole at the car park entrance has been
tackled. At the moment this is only a temporary measure until more permanent repairs can be made, but this should be an improvement.
Can you help Count The Kicks?
Count the Kicks is a charity which aims to empower expectant mums with knowledge and confidence throughout pregnancy by encouraging mums to take responsibility for their own health
and care and that of the unborn baby and ensuring expectant mums work with their midwives
and healthcare providers by being aware of their baby’s movements and development, and have
the confidence to call for advice if the are worried at all. Awareness saves lives. We have had
an appeal from Amelia’s mum to help by collecting empty wipe packets, Ella’s Kitchen food
pouches and used stamps. The charity can make 1-2p for every packet they receive. Any make,
brand or supermarket own brand wipe packets are accepted. Please collect as many as possible
and bring them to nursery for Amelia’s mum to send off, or you can send them direct to CTK, 10
The Copse, Kipley, Surrey, GU23 6BN. The registered charity number is: 1145073. If you
would like to know more the website is: www.countthekicks.org,uk. Thank you.
Spanish or Ballet or ???
The numbers taking part in our Spanish lessons seem to be dwindling,
which means that the price will increase for the participants who are left.
We are wondering whether there is a rekindled interest in Baby Ballet, or
whether anyone knows of another organisation which can provide lessons
in some area which we do not ordinarily offer. If you are interested in
joining the Spanish classes and boosting the numbers, or would like us to look into restarting
ballet, or have some other idea(s), please fill in the attached slip and return it to us, so that we
can gauge what is the best thing to do. Thank you.
Employee of the Month
Our star performer in May was Vikki. Congratulations and well done to her. Do
please keep those nominations coming—we’ve attached a nomination slip to the
end of this newsletter. There is a box in the entrance hall in which you can post
your slips. Thank you.
May & June birthdays
First of all, delayed birthday greetings to the May bunch: Henry S, Nathan
and Keigan were all 1; Maya and Jonah were 2; Isla and Jack were 3.
In June Ethan H was 1; Ella, Lily and Joseph were 2; Scarlett, Lucas, Jessica
L, Olivia U and Amelie were all 3. No-one had a 4th birthday in either month!
Many Happy Returns to all of them, however long ago their birthday was!
