London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
Heritage Services

Location
 Bay 10 of the main shelves
Scope of the collection
Barking and Dagenham has produced many wellknown sports personalities, such as Sir Alf Ramsey,
manager of the World Cup-winning England football
team in 1966, and several of his players. The Archives
and Local Studies Centre holds biographies and press
cuttings relating to them.
You will also find general works such as a collection of
match programmes for Dagenham & Redbridge FC
and Barking FC.
They are for reference only, so are always available on
the open shelves.
Before the re-opening of Valence House in summer 2010,
each volume was carefully cleaned by Archives and Local
Studies volunteers before being added to the sustainable
custom-built oak shelves in the new library.
