The Wife of Noble Character: “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her . . . Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:28,30 Dear Family and Friends, Happy Mother’s Day!! Mothers, we pray that you serve your families with the Joy of the Lord and lean on Him for your daily strength! Our first bit of news has to do with mothers . . . And Baby Makes Three . . . Yes, we are expecting our first child!! We have been praying that God would send the blessing of a child into our lives in His timing. His timing has come and we are expecting our little one sometime in January. After our next appointment in June, we should have a more precise due date. We have a few prayer requests regarding baby Paccha. First, please pray for a healthy pregnancy for Kirsten and baby. Kirsten has been very tired and nauseous lately, so pray especially for her stomach to calm down in the next few months. Second, pray that the Lord would provide for us in the coming year. Kirsten is planning on staying home after the baby is born, but we need to decide if she should or can work until December. After the baby is born, we will need more than Darwin’s income to support the three of us. We are looking into some possibilities. Pray for wisdom in this area and that God would show us the right direction to take. Thirdly, these changes in the amount of work and a new baby will also affect how many activities we can be involved in within our church. Pray for peace and guidance in what activities we need to continue in or eliminate (permanently or temporarily). These changes primarily involve Darwin. Pray for him and our pastor as they make decisions about the future. Finally, praise God with us for this new little life and the doors of ministry this child will open to us amongst families! Paz de Dios: Purity Debate Each Saturday, the youth at Paz de Dios church get together for a wide range of activities. One Saturday this month, six adults from the church presented a mock debate about purity. One adult was the moderator, two adults defended the world’s view of purity, and three adults defended God’s view of purity. The debate was very formal. Each side had to make opening statements and respond to questions made by the opposing side or by the moderator. Darwin was a part of this debate defending God’s view of purity with Katty and Justo. Maria José and Geovanny stepped out of their comfort zones and defended the world’s view of purity. Paúl was the moderator. Some parents also came to the debate and thoroughly enjoyed it. In the coming year or years, the parents would like to have a similar debate with parents in order to share with the youth how parents think regarding this issue. Since the youth many times think their parents are just old-fashioned, the parents would like a chance to explain their true reasoning for permitting or prohibiting certain activities that involve purity. At the end of the debate, the youth were allowed to ask questions. Some were challenged by what was shared and shared their questions about “witness dating”, how to know he/she is “the one”, what is the right time to start dating, etc. Pray for these youth and the many critical decisions they are making in their lives. Pray for protection and wisdom in this area of purity. Praise God for a time to share His truth. Paz de Dios: Missions Service Every month, Paz de Dios has an evangelical type service on the last Friday of the month. This month the service was all about missions to other countries. Four people shared about different countries including China, Pakistan, Bolivia, and Mozambique. The main idea was to open the congregation’s eyes to the needs of people in other countries to hear the Gospel. Our church is growing each month, and we are looking ahead to supporting a missionary in the coming year. Each presentation was unique and some of the presenters wore typical clothing from the country they presented. All the presenters have a heart for missions and have gone on mission trips or are looking to serve in the future. Two more people also shared their testimonies of serving with short term missions in the U.S.A and Israel. Pray that God continues to open hearts to missions in our congregation. Bilingüe: Completion of Classes Classes at the Bilingüe have finished for the year. We still have work for about one more month because of meetings, projects, and classes for students who were failing a class or classes. Pray for the students this summer. Pray that they make wise decisions and stay safe and healthy. This last month our work load is much lighter and we have less hours, so we are thankful for a little more free time and little more nap time (for Kirsten and Baby ☺). Darwin appreciates more time this month as he finishes preparing for the Bible Camp “Defending the Faith” this summer. Pray that more students apply and seek to study God’s Word at a deeper level.
