Hamparian, Executive Director August 16, 2007 RE: First 5 Ambassadors to Armenia to Speak on Capitol Hill Attached please find an invitation for a fascinating program at the Library of Congress featuring remarks by each of the first five U.S. Ambassadors to Armenia. The presentation will be held on Friday, September 28th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon in the Mumford Room of the James Madison Building. (Coffee will be served from 8:30 am to 9:00 am.) The five speakers will be Harry Gilmore, America’s first Ambassador to Armenia, Peter Tomsen, Michael Lemmon, John Ordway, and John Evans - who was fired from his post last year for speaking truthfully about the Armenian Genocide. The President recently withdrew his nominee to replace Ambassador Evans, Dick Hoagland, in response to broad-based Senate opposition - and a hold by Senator Bob Menendez - over to his denial of the Armenian Genocide. This program is the latest in a series of truly compelling presentations and extraordinary educational and cultural exhibits organized by Dr. Levon Avdoyan, the Armenian and Georgian Area Specialist in the Library’s Near East Section.
