Our Story
Premama® was born from the idea that daily essential prenatal vitamins could, and should, be easier
to take and easier on the stomach. While studying entrepreneurship at Brown University, Dan Aziz
and a colleague encountered a pregnant woman at their local Whole Foods, which sparked a
conversation about her struggle to find a prenatal vitamin that wasn't a horse pill and didn't worsen
morning sickness. Inspired, he set out to solve the issues commonly associated with prenatal vitamin
pills. As Dan openly admits, he isn’t – nor would he ever be – a “pre-mama,” so he and his team

A pioneer in maternity wellness, Dan Aziz founded Premama in 2011 after
winning the 2011 Rhode Island Business Plan Competition, which he entered
while studying commerce, organizations and entrepreneurship at Brown
University. As Premama’s leading man, Dan has his hands in all aspects of the
business, with a particular focus on investor relations, fundraising, product
development and sales. In addition, he works closely with the company’s CMO
on day-to-day operations, budgeting and execution of all marketing
programs. An advocate of healthy living, Dan is an avid rower, triathlete and
Iron Man competitor. True to his Canadian roots, he is also a devoted hockey
fan and skier. Dan resides in Providence, RI.
A “founding father” of the brand, Jamie Schapiro joined the Premama/Luna
Pharmaceuticals family in 2014 as its second employee. He is involved in all
aspects of Premama’s marketing strategy and implementation, and manages
national marketing across all product lines. An expert in the food and
beverage industry, he has more than two decades of experience driving the
development, launch and growth of highly differentiated consumer goods and
services such as Jamba Juice, GO Veggie!, Clif Bar, Stirrings and MyPoints.
Jamie resides in Portsmouth, RI with his wife and three sons.
