This is another example of a debate between
Jesus and official religious teachers of the time. The Sadducees were
part of the Priestly caste in Israel. They insisted on following the
written law of Moses and rejected the growing belief in the
possibility of Resurrection
Maccabees 7, 1-14 Belief in a resurrection from the dead had been
developing in Israel over a couple of hundred years. This statement
of it from the time of the Maccabees comes in the context of the
brave martyrdom of seven brothers – creating a coincidental link to
the Gospel
2 Thessalonians 2, 16ss
Paul’s letters often include his prayer
for the community he is writing to. He thanks God for their faith and
prays that they will grow always stronger in their commitment to the
Lord
November is the month of memory, as we pray for those
who have died.
Envelopes for people to ask for their family and friends to be
included in the Parish Memorial Masses (Dead List) will be
available in Church throughout November.
Pastoral Parish Council
Enough nominations have been received for us to form a
Council. It will have an initial meeting to determine themes
and procedures, in the next few weeks.

10th December Lunch at School
Parishioners are warmly invited to join the children for
lunch, 12 noon on Thursday 10th of November. Cost is £3
The next few Fridays (from 11th) different groups of children
from the Primary School will join in the morning 9.30 Mass.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
4th December CHRISTMAS FAYRE at school
Donations to the different stalls can be handed in at Church
each week. Volunteers needed to help.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
11th December CHORDIALITY CONCERT 3.00pm
Revisiting the popular event from two years ago - a medley of
Christmas music and readings. Mulled wine and mince pies to
follow.tickets on sale soon. Proceeds to the Restoration Fund.
