Thousands of tonnes of waste are produced year after year. In consideration of
environmental laws and in order to protect our own health, these waste should
be treated with utmost care, not only during collection thereof, but also in the
sorting, valorisation and processing phase.
The TWZ GROUP, a waste management company established in Belgium, would
like to set the example and play a leading role from an environmental, economic
and social point of view. Considering the fact that natural resources are rapidly
decreasing we are convinced that waste constitute the raw materials and fuels of

This wide variety of waste can be delivered in small packages, drums, IBC, tanker
trucks, railway wagons and vessels, weighing 1 kg up to a vessel of 3000 tonnes, by
road, rail or waterway transport.

Each establishment has its own, well-equipped laboratory. The lab will carry out the analyses
and will also steer the various treatment processes there after.

MARPOL
The TWZ GROUP has a full-scale port reception facility, located at the waiting area of the
port of Ghent. The unloading of vessels and the cleaning of ship-holds is possible.

Recycling of ferrous & non-ferrous materials by means of
our cryogenic shredder installation
All kinds of packed hazardous waste
are being processed in an eco-friendly
manner at the cryogenic shredder.
The solid part is then cooled down to
a temperature of -196 °C by means of
liquid nitrogen (= cryogenic treatment).
Aerosols, paint cans, drums, boxes,
flasks and jars containing hazardous
waste are shredded up to bank card
size in an inert environment (where
there is no risk of explosion nor fire).
Then solid and liquid waste are separated. The liquid part is further
processed at the solvent department.
This solvent may either be re-used or
used as a secondary fuel.
Because of the difference in physical features at this extremely low temperature
we can separate solid powder, ferrous
metals, non – ferrous metals (such as
aluminium) and plastics.
These substreams can be further
recycled and valorised

CLEANING
The inside cleaning of tanker trucks, tank containers, bulk trucks,
railway carriages, multi-boxes and drums can also be performed
by the TWZ GROUP.
NEUTRALISATION OF ACIDS &
BASES, CR6+ DETOXIFICATION
The reactor (a physico-chemical unit) has been built for the safe processing of all kinds of acids
and bases. The reactor intends to neutralize the hazardous characteristics of acids and bases
and to eliminate pollutants. Apart from the neutralisation of acids and bases, the reactor is
also used for the detoxification of Cr6+-containing waste waters and acids.
For the cleaning of tanker trucks, tank containers, bulk trucks and railway carriages
separate cleaning lanes are provided for ‘food’ and ‘chemicals’.

Multi-boxes and plastic drums can be cleaned, both internally and externally, by means of an
automated process. Once the cleaning process is completed, the recipients will be tested for
any leakages, before being cleared for re-use.
SECONDARY FUELS
& SOLVENT RECYCLING
Production of secondary fuels & pre-treatment
for solvent recycling
Solvents is the umbrella term for all liquid fractions that are pumpable and cannot be
processed in any other way than by means of incineration. At the solvent storage tanks
the waste solvents are transhipped in order to optimize transport and to obtain the best
possible composition so that the solvents can be used as an alternative energy source
(valorisation), for example in the cement industry or as a solvent for solvent recycling.

EVAPO-CONDENSATION &
OIL-WATER SEPARATION
One of the processing techniques that is
applied within the TWZ GROUP on highly
contaminated waste water is the evapocondensation technique. By using our own
sustainable source of energy the evaporation phase can be performed in an
ecologically friendly manner.
The evaporation residues can be used as an
alternative raw material for example in the
cement industry. The evaporated water is
processed in the water purification.
This method contributes to the conservation
of natural resources.
Oil-water mixtures are submitted to a
thermal treatment, resulting in a water
fraction and an oil fraction with low water
content. The oil fraction can be used as an
alternative to fossil fuels. This way the TWZ
GROUP operates as a
recycling company.
