Please help your child to keep the three rules of Simply
Behave by using them at home:
 Show good manners at all times
 Care for everyone and everything
 Follow instructions straight away
Here are some other ways you can help your child at
home:
 Listen to your child read 3 times a week
 Help your child to learn his/her times tables
 If you have Internet access, support him/her in
finding out about our Creative Curriculum topic –
‘Aztecs’
 Have a conversation with your child when they
explain their talk homework to you.

Please make sure children have the correct PE kits for both
indoor and outdoor PE, in school ALL WEEK, labelled with their
names.
Mathematics
In Mathematics we will be looking at
place value, addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division.
We will then go on to look at fractions
with decimals and percentages and then
look at geometry and finally statistics.
English
History/Geography
In Literacy this half term we will begin by
looking at instructions. This will then follow
onto looking at stories from other cultures
and then poetry.
In the second half term we will look at
stories by children’s authors and film
narrative.
We will look at Geography in the second
half term and our topic will be Chocolate.
We are hoping to pay a visit to Cadbury
world chocolate factory. In the first half
term we will be looking at History and our
topic will be Aztecs. Children will research
the Aztecs and learn about their Gods and
Goddesses.
Science
This term our topic will be properties and
changes of materials. The children will be
carrying out investigations to test
hardness of materials and looking at
opaque, transparent and translucent
materials.
French
In French this term the children will be
developing their vocabulary with a
specific focus on shopping and schools.

RE
In RE we will be looking
at how three major
religions conduct
funerals and evaluate
their importance to the
lives of believers.
Music
In Music the children will be
learning how to perform
particular songs. They will also
be using percussion
instruments to perform short
repeated patterns.
PE
In PE the children will be
learning ball skills in throw
tennis. This will look at their
reaction and response in game
skills and their coordination and
agility.
In ICT children will be learning how to
stay safe online. They will look at
cyber bullying and identify possible
consequences for the choices they
make when using the internet.
Art/DT
Homework: Literacy and Numeracy homework set on Friday (due the following week).
Talk Homework - handed out Wednesday, to be returned Friday.
Spellings – as you are aware the spelling list for Autumn1 has already been handed out and children
will be tested every Thursday.
As previous, we will be sending a learning journal home with a list of challenges for you to share at
home and complete each week.
In Art this half term we will be looking at
Aztec art and children will be designing
their own Aztec printing pattern. Next
half term we will be focusing on DT.
