PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
This role provides a range of administrative services to support the delivery of multiple community service
programs in line with the Corporate Service Operational Plan.
MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION (from The Modern Award)
As part of Centacare’s Administration Team, this position works under close direction and undertakes
routine activities which require the practical application of basic skills and techniques. Activities performed
by employees at this level consist of clearly defined activities with outcomes being readily attainable and
limited by standards and procedures. Employees will be responsible for the time management of their
work and required to use basic numeracy, written and verbal communication skills.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (from The Modern Award)
To contribute to the operational objective of the workplace, this position includes the following: (choose

 Undertake routine activities of a clerical and/or support nature;
 Undertake straightforward operation of keyboard equipment including data input and word
processing at a basic level;
 Provide routine information including general reception and telephonist duties;
 Undertake routine office duties involving filing, recording, checking and batching of accounts,

invoices, orders, stores requisitions and maintenance of an existing records system;

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This position works under direct supervision.
EXTENT OF AUTHORITY
In this position work outcomes are clearly monitored however employees have freedom to act limited by
standards and guidelines. Solutions to problems are found in established procedures and instructions with
assistance readily available.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Some or all of the following are needed to perform work at this level:




developing knowledge of the workplace function and operation;
basic knowledge of administrative practices and procedures relevant to the workplace;
basic numeracy, written and verbal communication skills relevant to the work area;
at this level, substantial on-the-job training is provided.
Prerequisites

Current C class drivers license (QLD); and
II.
Ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances (Positive Notice Blue Card with
Yellow Card Exemption, Satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check)

DUTIES OF THE ROLE
Administration Support to Site
• Undertake Administrative duties (ie filing, photocopying, data entry, mail register)
• Undertake offsite errands (ie banking, mail)
• Support site staff to maintain site
Finance Support Activities
• Receipt money
• Assist with month end tasks
Point of Contact
• Act as first point of contact for internal and external clients
• Assist with client intake process

Our services assist them in enhancing their quality of life. Our Home and Community Care Services provide a comprehensive and coordinated range of basic support services for frail aged people and people with disability. An assessment identifying each client’s needs is conducted. Clients can self refer or can be referred by other service providers or referral gateways. Confidentiality is assured at all times. Sessions last about one (1) hour. The number of sessions will depend on the individual and will proceed at a pace that suits individual needs. Counselling can help with many issues including: A step family adjusting together Personal development issues, for example self esteem or assertiveness Communication Grief and loss Parenting issues Stress management Relationship issues Conflict resolution Or any other issue that is negatively affecting life or relationships Separation or divorce Family Support and Intervention Services Centacare assists families, children, parents and individuals gain knowledge, skills and resources to enhance their wellbeing and create a safe and caring family environment. These programs support vulnerable children, young people (unborn to 18) and their families to improve their wellbeing and safety and preserve the family. Centacare values and supports families as the primary place of nurturing for children and adults, and aims to build on strengths to: Develop knowledge and skills to care for and nurture children Manage and resolve complex family issues and improve family capacity and resilience Access a range of services that can provide resources for the family. Family Relationship Centres Family Relationship Centres (FRC) provide information for those experiencing separation ‐ overcoming relationship difficulties or dealing with separation. The FRC helps focus on children’s needs and helps parents decide what to do next. FRCs can provide joint sessions with the other parent or family members to help assist with reaching agreement on parenting arrangements. 1300 783 544

Community Education Centacare offers a variety of tailor made workshops and training programs to suit the needs of every age group, including: Dealing with Grief and Loss Raising Children’s Self Esteem If Only 123 Magic Stress Relaxation and Self Care Leaps and Bounds Coping with Depression and anxiety Butterfly Program Schoolies Week Program Domestic Violence Centacare’s Domestic and Family Violence Programs provide a range of services in the Central Highlands (Emerald and Blackwater) including: Information and Referral Resource Library Crisis Counselling Assistance with Protection Orders Court Support Advocacy Community Awareness Child and Adolescent Counselling Training and Workshops Short and medium term counselling and support services are available to children and young people who have been victims and witnesses to Domestic and Family Violence. FOCCUS Centacare’s Pre‐Marriage Education program is called FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communication Understanding and Study). The program is designed to give couples contemplating marriage the skills and insights into how they can manage their relationship as it develops. The comprehensive nature of the program allows couples to consider their relationship in terms of strengths and potential issues regarding topics such as lifestyle expectations, friends, interests, personality match, personal issues, communication, problem solving, spirituality, parenting, extended family, sexuality, finances and marriage readiness. Natural Fertility Services Natural Family Planning assists couples plan their family using natural methods. The program educates students, health workers and the general community on matters relating to fertility and reproduction in an environment which reveres and celebrates the gift of human sexuality. Centacare also delivers Family Life Education sessions to high school and primary school students.
