Fare zones
YRT / Viva tickets and passes are available
at over 90 ticket agents across York Region.
Customers can also buy tickets and passes
from automated fare machines installed
along the Viva routes. Monthly passes,
discounted sets of 10 tickets and single
ride fares can be purchased from multiRide
machines at terminal locations. oneRide
machines provide single ride tickets at
vivastations and terminals.
YRT/Viva and Mobility Plus travel across
three fare zones. A $1 Zone Upgrade is
required when travelling across each zone
boundary. Customers using c ash fare,
1 Zone Tickets, 1 Zone Monthly Passes
or a GTA Weekly Pass must pay the Zone
Upgrade if travelling into an additional zone.
Customers using 2 Zone cash fare, 2 Zone
Tickets or 2 Zone Monthly Passes only pay t he
Zone Upgrade if travelling into a third zone.
When boarding a YRT, TTC or Brampton Transit
vehicle operating in York Region, customers
must deposit a cash fare or ticket into the
farebox or show the driver a valid pass.
The dividing lines for the three zones are
located in the Town of Georgina at Ravenshoe
Road and in the Town of Richmond Hill at
Bloomington Road and just south of King Road.
Viva service operates on a proof-of-payment
system. W
hen boarding Viva, customers
need to validate tickets at vivaNow machines
located at all vivastations and terminals.
When a ticket is validated, the date and expiry
time are printed on the ticket. Customers can
also purchase single ride tickets available
from both oneRide and multiRide machines.
Customers without valid
fares may be subject to
a fine or criminal charge.
The date and expiry time are printed on these
tickets at the time of purchase, so they do not
need to be validated prior to boarding Viva.
Valid monthly passes or GTA weekly passes
can also be used when riding Viva.
