It furthers pupils’ experience and achievement on an instrument by developing instrumental techniques through an understanding of pattern and structure. The project will involve a variety of listening, composing and performance opportunities. Group of approx 30. Possibly those recognised as ‘More Able’ in singing. Description Pupils learn to sing with confidence and lead singing activities. The project will incorporate a number of singing games, warm ups and songs, and will be aimed at developing Young Singing leaders. The sessions will be directed by a Milton Keynes Music Service singing animateur. There will be a performance session at the end of the project, led by some of the children. Audience School (Upper KS2), Youth Groups, 9 - 11 year olds Description Reference: U5 Keyboard Project 1 For Year 5 or Year 6 Reference: U6 The numbers eventually performed will involve all three elements of musical theatre, dance, drama and singing. The children will get vocal training and an introduction into the world of musical theatre. Repertoire chosen from: Wicked, Oliver, Les Miserables, Rent and others. Sessions to consist of - vocal warm up's and exercises; pitch work; projection and vocal technique; a selection of Musical Theatre song and dance; drama games – improvisation to improve confidence and acting skills. Culminating in a performance. Description This project will provide an introduction to the basics of keyboard playing (for pupils who have not had Playing Together 1 keyboard tuition). The project will incorporate NC Ongoing Skills which focus on the development of the singing voice and other essential musical skills - eg listening skills, aural memory and physical skills. Description Exploring The Blues - with a focus on keyboard playing. The project will involve a variety of listening, composing and performance opportunities, including listening to and finding out about the Blues, simple chord playing on the keyboard, melody improvisation and composition and singing and playing of different Blues. The opportunity to work in pairs and a group. Requirements Keyboards/headphones. Sticks, Cans And Audience Dustbin Lids! A Stomp composition project Description Reference: U8 Gamelan Year 5 or Year 6 Reference: U9 Whole Day: £250 Year 5 or 6 class A class composition and performance project based on composing activities using sticks/cans and dustbin lids to create an exciting rhythmic piece for performance, with a focus on the musical elements of beat/rhythm/metre/texture/timbre and structure. Pupil evaluation and assessment record included. Length Of Project Half-term/or workshop Length Of Session In school: 45 minutes per week or half or one day workshop Cost Half-term: £210 Delivered By Primary Music Specialist/Milton Keynes Music Service percussion teacher. Requirements Equipment provided; a large space to work in—preferably a hall. One adult - class teacher/TA to work alongside. Audience Year 5 or 6 or KS3 Classes Description This project aims to introduce children to the cultural background and function of the Gamelan, to examine technical and performing aspects and creative ideas. Children will play and listen to music written for the Gamelan, examine cyclic patterns and compose their own music. The project will be run in schools on tuned percussion instruments and will culminate in a half-day session on the Music Service’s Javanese Gamelan at the Music Service. This is a very good follow-on for schools who have done Playing Together World Percussion. The Gamelan is ideally suited for developing group music-making and team-building skills. It provides hands on experience of Samba - culminating in a performance to an audience. Samba is ideally suited for developing group music-making and team-building skills. It provides hands on experience of African drums which could culminate in a performance. African drums are ideally suited for developing group music-making and teambuilding skills.
