Description
In this course students will learn about the five themes of geography and
world culture from Eastern hemisphere and Europe. This is an interactive course
that helps students make the connection among geography, history, and current
events; bringing students the opportunity to open up to the world.
General Objective
Students will examine the five key of geographic themes: Location, place,
region, human-environment interaction, and movement, and other geographic
concepts that go beyond map and globe skills and place names, students will also
learn
the geographical
constitution
location of continents, types of
governments, their
as well as related current events, world culture of Eastern
hemisphere.
Specific Objectives

To examine the fields of learning that contribute to social studies and
develop an understanding of culture and culture traits.

To
examine the five themes used to describe Earth, some of the tools
geographers use, and how these themes and tools help us understand
people, places, and environments of the past and present.

To explore the geography of Europe, the lasting achievements of the
ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, and developments in Europe during
the medieval period.

To
explore the political and social changes that brought Europe from the
Renaissance to the beginning of the modern era.

To
examine how the development of nationalism in Europe led to two
world wars and a cold war during the 20th century.

To examine recent changes in Europe, including political, economic, and
cultural aspects of life in Eastern Europe before and after the breakup of the
Soviet Union. They will also look at the European Union.

To learn about the government, economy, and culture of the United
Kingdom, Sweden, France, Germany, and Poland.

To examine ancient civilizations in the Nile River valley and the Fertile
Crescent, and how three of the world's major religions developed there.

To examine how geography and historical events have influenced
the development of the governments, economies, and cultures of countries
in North Africa and Southwest Asia.

To examine how geography and historical events—from antiquity to the
slave trade, from colonialism to independence—have influenced the
development of the governments, economies, and cultures of African
countries south of the Sahara.

To
examine the history, governments, economies, and cultures of the
countries of Western and Central Africa.

To examine the history and cultures of countries in Eastern and Southern
Africa
and
analyze
their
effects
on
those
countries'
present-day
governments, economies, and societies.

To examine the history, government, economy, and culture of India and its
neighboring countries.

To examine how geography and historical events have shaped the
governments, economies, and cultures of countries in Southeast Asia.

Methodology

Explore Geographic patterns.

Use and evaluate geographic research sources (e.g. maps, satellite images,
globes, charts, graphs and databases) to interpret Earth’s physical and
human systems.

Investigate and explain how physical processes shape the earth’s surface.

Develop critical thinking.

Use maps and other graphic representations to depict geographic problems.

Analyze the spatial organization of people, places and environments on
earth’s surface.

Interpret earth complexity.
