Match Report Round 6 Brunswick 4:13:37 def by Fitzroy 8:6:54 Well boys a good effort. There are a few things we need to work on but everybody contributed in a positive manner so that was good. We have to fine tune a few things to make us a better side and we will work on these things this week and at subsequent training sessions. All players are getting better each week and playing with more confidence in themselves and their teammates. We all need to believe that we can win that contested ball or take that mark and be confident to attack the ball with aggression and intent to win it. Once you have the ball, take care with your decision making and then try to execute the skills required to move the ball on. We all need to play with this sort of confidence as all teams in our division will give us a run for our money. Areas that Need Improvement 1. Use of the ball. We must all practice our skills and decision making first in getting the ball then in making the correct decision when we have it, and being able to get it to our teammate skillfully. 2. Centering the ball. When we have it deep in the forward pocket or forward flank, it must be kicked to the hot spot half way between full forward and centre half forward. Players not doing this this week will be taken off for a brief instruction of what is expected. 3. Forward Pressure. Work hard to shut down their back men from clearing the ball. Tackle, smoother, chase etc. 4. Accountability all over the ground. All players must work hard to beat their player when they have the footy. This means work hard to man up. Wings , half forwards, half backs and on ballers all must be prepared to work hard and shutdown their man when they get it. This is why we do the 5 possession drill at training.
