Shuttle K to classes as group

Shuttle K to Other Buildings as a Group Comments/Concerns: ● Prefer this to moving out 6th grade ● Interesting option have to guarantee a spot back at ES for 1st grade ● Not a favorite option, but I like kids sticking together ● Busing is expensive and always the first thing to be threatened when money is tight ● Busing to Sutter Park is a long haul. 2030 minutes if traffic ● Timeline for the day w/added transportation time? Too many variables that cannot be answered. ● Busing the kids to Sutter Park or wherever takes away a lot of time (too much from ½ day) and isn’t fair to those paying. ● Good, viable solution as a
group ● This seems like a relatively better solution, with less disruption to the upper classroom ● This s a better option than only offering ½ day at ES ● I would have preferred this to ½ day lottery at ES. This is a sensible shortterm solution ● Ok idea they are there as a group ● Like this idea ● ES has been constrained at least 5 years already. May make sense to use Sutter for Kindergarten instead of spending money on portables. Save the money and add on 5 new classrooms. ● Families could be split if they have a K and older student. ● This option sounds halfbaked. No real solution has been identified in lunch not figured out yet...These short term solutions don’t solve the problem! ● PreK and K campus for ES and any other schools that have overcrowded ● 2nd best shortterm option, because it is least disruptive to ES community (Kindergarteners don’t know the difference. ● All day K at another campus isn’t an integration to ES, no benefit of siblings or 4th grade buddies! ● It feels like busing could take up too much of day. ● My concern is the amount of time kids would be on the bus. ● Only want this if whole district considers, believe this shouldn’t be the option to “buy” a year ● Favorite choice as upcoming K parent. A a new parent with a child entering Kindergarten. ● It seems easiest to have the kids start off somewhere else (as a group) and then move to 1st grade at ES. ● Best of these 3 options. ● Good option for continuity for all later grades. ●

Do not support this option. Kindergarteners need stability of arriving and staying on site. Would prefer moving 6th graders. No, No, No! Our youngest most vulnerable kiddos do not need the added stress and waste of time shuttling around. We loved the MAC, believed that was reasonable, but moving K to another unknown building seems very HARSH for 5 and 6 year olds. NO K kiddos need to assimilate into the routine Poor little kids...Shuttle the 6th graders first. Sutter Park is very far from ESthink of winter traveling! Like the “Kindergarten Shuffle” (or “shuttle”) very much for
short term Having an older child (6th) and an incoming K, I much rather my 6th move to KMS OVE
R K’s to another building. Would allow early exit from MAC space I don’t want my kindergartner to be at a different school than their older siblings, want them together. Not a great option too much transition. I think it's the least disruptive to send K as a group over to a different school, then integrate them in 1st rather than pull 6th graders out. I like this a a short term solution. Siblings are important part of K becoming included into ES culture! Doesn’t take advantage of this. Why would ES kids be given less of an offering than other kids in the district? not ok Would rather have halfday kindergarten at ES then bus them somewhere else. Now kindergarten is the old first grade and already stressful for them. Let them go to the school they will be in for the next 6 years and get settled instead of shuttling them around. They are not alway adaptable. As parent of an incoming kindergartener I don’t find this ideal but would be willing to do this. Short term solution only! Moving K to HS seems better than 6th grade. Want my K student to be at ES with siblings. Using part of full day K for transport seems fine since all day K is a little too demanding for the kindergarteners. The intro. year to a school is a learning year. By removing them from older kids pushes that transition yeara disservice to our kids. Great idea to move them a a group and be able to keep kids at ES. They are already kind of segregated at the MAC so this is a good option. This option seems to complicate aftercare options/transportation. If aftercare options/transportation are resolved this seems like a good option. Would be great to keep classes together Shuttling K is an unwelcoming, isolating intro. to elementary school. It separates families and doesn’t offer the
full
school experience. I think this might be a decent short term solution but it is not desirable NO WAY! K is so important to environment. I would shuttle older children vs Kindergarten. There seems to be a risk here. ●

I am in favor of moving the whole K to another location. I am for a kindergarten campuskeep together I like this one! This plan is ok, but it is 500x better than reassignment. This idea seems like it would complicate after school plans for working parents K moving to a unit would be a great option. Better than being in separate areas now. Love thiswould help a lot. This option is great! We shouldn’t devalue younger children. They are a vibrant part of a school family Don’t like kindergarteners being shuttled just for a full day. Then 1st grade is an adjustment instead of K At least they would be together as a Kindergarten. Estimated ¾ 1 hour bus time if they shuttle to Sutter. Seems similar to current situation at MAC, especially since Kindergarten is already somewhat segregated from 16 Moving the K seems far better than disrupting 6th grade and giving them a different experience from the rest of the district. Questions: ● Shuttle Kindergarten with current Sutter Park students!? ● Educational time lost while shuttling? ● Consider using Linworth? House the HS program somewhere else. ● Would you consider if moving K to Sutter. Would you hire separate related arts for them? ● How will Mary oversee K in Sutter and have influence? ● If K was at Sutter for full day could they just pack lunches? ● How would you shuttle the kids? Two stops? Or bus route? ● How do you get K students to feel like part of the ES family when they are bussed off site? ● Will K’ers have ES teachers at the shuttle school? ● How much extra time out of the school day will that take? ● Why would you shuttle the younger kids? Terrible idea ● What’s the cost of busing K vs adding mobile units? ● How many K are coming from Sutter to ES? ● Can Art and Music to to TWHS instead of a grade level? ● Would there be room when they are ready for 1st grade?
