Product Datasheet When Power is Critical Electronic engine governing Improve response speed and avoid droop with GAC electronic governing GAC electronic engine governing series Older, mechanically-governed engines and gensets are often one step away from the scrap heap. Our natural reaction is to replace them with a newer unit. Electronic governing can breathe a new lease of life into older engines that are mechanically governed. They are suited for many gen-sets, compressors and other applications and are compatible with a wide range of engines including Perkins, Yanmar and Kubota. GAC electronic governing products feature a high quality construction and come with sealed automotive connectors for a lifetime of use. They are also specifically designed for high temperature operation. Responsive Electronic governors are up to 200 times faster than mechanical governors. This means that there is no droop on gen-sets, and power stays constant under variable loads on pumps and other engine applications. Economical Electronic governing will accurately set the engine’s throttle to match the load, improving fuel economy. That will reduce your bills and your environmental footprint. Reliable GAC electronic governing features precision linear ball bearings and a minimum of moving parts to increase reliability. Product Datasheet Electronic engine governing How does electronic governing help you? Extend capabilities Boost performance It’s easy to run older gensets parallel to mains or to other gen-sets when electronically governed. Load response improves thanks to the speed of an electronically-controlled actuator. It can be up to 200 times faster than a mechanical governor. Protect equipment Save capital expense Isochronous speed control supplies a constant, nodroop frequency to sensitive electrical equipment, whatever the load. Upgrading an existing engine or gen-set is less expensive than buying a new one. Electronic governing gives extra performance economically. Expert assistance Go green IPU is GAC’s longestserving distributor in the world. With decades of experience we can help you through all pre and post-sales challenges. Electronic governing reduces fuel consumption and avoids the environmental footprint of a new engine or gen-set. Supported engines Product Datasheet Electronic engine governing Who benefits from electronic governing? Gen-sets Pumps Compressors Welding rigs Refrigeration units Construction equipment Lifts Winches With electronic governing older gen-sets can supply consistent, reliable power to sensitive equipment such as IT and healthcare systems. By adding isochronous speed control and paralleling options you can bring older equipment back into active use without the expense of a major upgrade. Electronic governing can be economically applied to engines in applications from irrigation pumps on farms to lifting gear in mines. With much faster response to transient load changes, electronically-governed engines provide smoother, more consistent power to the equipment they serve. Electronic governing systems reduce fuel consumption and environmental impact because they move the throttle to any position between fully open and fully closed. Mechanical governors use full throttle even under a modest load. Upgrading to electronic governing The Actuator The actuator replaces the engine’s mechanical throttle. Electronic actuators deliver fast, precise throttle control. Load response improves because actuators react 200 times faster than mechanical throttles. Fuel economy improves because actuators can move to any position between fully open and fully closed. If you need 50% power they open the throttle 50%. Mechanical throttles are either open or closed. It is a non-contacting design, so no maintenance is required The Governor The governor is the brains of the system. Electronic governors deliver fast, nodroop response to load changes and isochronous speed control for gen-sets. Digital and analogue controllers are available for different applications. Optional load-sharing modules are available for isochronous paralleling with other gen-sets, load sharing and mains power control. Digital controllers are extremely flexible—can be fed with various speed request inputs such as throttles, levers, pots and PLCs. The Pickup The magnetic pickup attaches to the flywheel casing. It feeds accurate speed data back to the controller so engine performance can be monitored and adjusted. A wide variety of magnetic pickups are available for engines from Farymann, Isuzu, Kubota, Mitsubishi, Perkins, Shibauru and Yanmar.
