How to set up a profile on LinkedIn
1. Go to www.linkedin.com
2. Click on ‘Join Today’ and fill in your name, email and
password details. Click ‘Join LinkedIn’
3. Complete your job details. If your company name
appears in the drop down results, select it to connect
with your organisation
4. When completed, proceed to the next step to receive a
confirmation email. Click the link in the email to confirm
the account
5. Choose the ‘Basic’ account for a free standard profile
Optimise your profile
Your profile should include:
nA Profile Picture
nA Summary (mentioning you are part of the Global
Board Ready Women initiative)
nLinks to your company and/or personal websites*
nLinks to your company and/or personal Twitter*
nExperience (at least one past experience)
nSkills*
nOrganisations ( Listing Global Board Ready Women)*

nConnect with other GBRW Members
nCreate Discussions in the GBRW Group
nMonitor Comments and Likes on your Updates and
Discussions
nConnect with people involved in Updates and Discussions
nConnect with relevant people who’ve been viewing your profile
nAdd people you know as connections*
nReview and update your profile regularly
nInform relevant contacts and colleagues about GBRW

How to update your Skills
1. On your profile, scroll down to ‘Skills & Expertise’
select ‘Add a skill’
2. Start typing, suggestions will appear
3. Click ‘Add’ on relevant skills
4. Click ‘Save changes’ when completed
How to add your Connections
1. Click ‘Add Connections’ in the top right corner
2. Browse ‘See Who You Already Know on Linkedin’
3. Import connections from your email client
4. Add additional connections by entering their email addresses
How to add GBRW to your profile
1. Click ‘Edit Profile’
2. Below the grey area of your profile click ‘Add Sections’
then select ‘Organizations’ and click ‘Add to profile’
3. Enter the name Global Board Ready Women and click
‘Membership ongoing’
4. Click ‘Add Organization’
How to add weblinks and Groups &
Associations to your profile
Example:
1. Select ‘Edit Profile’
2. Scroll down to ‘Additional Information’ and select edit
3. Select ‘Other’ under websites
4. Paste in your company’s URL
5. Give your link a description
www.example.com
Example Website
6. Once completed, under ‘Groups and Associations’ add
‘Global Board Ready Women’
7. Save your changes
How to add Twitter to your profile
1. In the top right, click ‘Settings’
2. Click ‘Manage your Twitter settings’
3. Click ‘Add your Twitter account’
4. Click ‘Authorize App’
