JUNE 2017 Hi everyone! We’ve got a lot of information in this newsletter. First, as the new Chapter President, I want to say hello to those who may not know me. My name is Jeff Zawadzki and I’m a 1997 graduate from the College of Engineering. I’ve been a member of the North Texas Chapter since 1998, serving in various capacities including Assistant VicePresident and Web Master. My wife Tina is also a Penn State graduate, and we have a daughter who is a Penn State supporter. She hasn’t yet reached the fanaticism of her Dad, but we are working on it. I’m really looking forward to continuing the excellence established by Craig and Judy. We’ve got a great team ready to ensure we remain one of the best Chapters in the country! The team is working hard to continue our Chapter traditions and hopefully create some new ones. One item I would like to highlight is that the hotline number has changed. The new number is 972-695-9PSU (9778). Our goal is to always have a recording detailing our next Chapter event. Second, we have a new location for the Summer Picnic and Freshman Sendoff. We are moving to Lake Grapevine’s Oak Grove Park. Details are below and we hope to see all of you there! NOTE: The picnic is on a Sunday this year. Thanks For All Your Support!!! It was bittersweet as we said thank you and farewell to our outgoing Officers and Board Members, while welcoming our new Officers and Board Members. We survived a windy, cool, and sometimes rainy evening in Arlington as we watched the Rangers beat the Angels. Kurt and Nikki Heinemann did a great job organizing the tailgate, where we socialized and dined prior to the game. This year's Scarborough event was a small group, but all that attended had a great time. We saw great shows like Cale the Juggler, Tartanic (bag pipers), the German Brothers (comedy rap show), Don Juan and Miguel (sword fighting), water balloon throwing comedy show with Motley Players, the Joust, Adam Crack with his fire whip show and lots more. The German Brothers selected Kurt as part of their show. Their comment about his soft hair had everyone laughing, even Kurt; it was just pure fun. It was a day filled with merriment and fun for all that attended. Next year we look to continue this event and maybe even get group discount tickets for all.
