“Tell me and I forget….. Teach me and I remember. Involve me

KG 2 NEWLETTER - 3rd NOVEMBER 2016
Dear Parent,
Assalamualaikum!
In KG 2 thematic units have been introduced as it provides an integrated approach to teaching and learning.
Such an integrated approach is supported by research on how the brain works and how human beings learn.
The use of thematic units helps young children achieve higher levels of learning because they integrate
different intelligences and topics into a single lesson which mirrors how young children actually learn. Also,
integrated thematic units make learning and teaching a lot of fun for teachers and children!

Discipline teaches the most important values to our children: selfcontrol, boundaries, respect, and the ability to honour those
around us. Give your child clear and simple directions and a
realistic list of expectations. Set him up for good behavior, and if
he does not follow through, give him a consistent set of
consequences ( like taking away privileges or a favorite toy for a
set amount of time). Don’t give different degrees of punishments
for the same misbehavior and be constant and consistent in
enforcing the rules.
Teaching children limits, learning to say “no,” and to practice
good behaviour are all part of an important discipline strategy.
Without it children will be at an enormous disadvantage
throughout their school years and in their social life.
