Important questions to ask the hotel before you book
By asking the following questions, the traveler with special needs can quickly determine if the hotel
is disability friendly.
1. What special disability services does the hotel provide? This should give you an indication as
to how experienced they are in assisting disabled travelers.
2. What floor are the wheelchair accessible rooms on? If the elevators are not in service, it is
important to be near the first floor in case of an emergency. Are the rooms ADA compliant?
3. Does the hotel provide a wheelchair accessible shuttle to nearby tourist attractions and
public transportation?
In addition to good wheelchair access, travelers with disabilities are also interested in things such
as a swimming pool, hotel restaurants, pet accommodations, and Internet access. While wheelchair
