APA State Leadership Conference 2016 Sponsorship Proposal

APA State Leadership Conference 2016
Sponsorship Proposal
Sponsorship Purpose
Solicit sponsorship to offset the costs of providing meeting room wireless internet connectivity, continuing education
technology, and a portion of the food and beverage expenses incurred during the three programmatic days of the American
Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Association Practice Organization (APAPO) State
Leadership Conference to be held in Washington, DC, February 27 - March 1, 2016 at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel,
1000 H St. NW, Washington, DC 20001. Moreover, the sponsorship program will serve as a way to connect APA’s state,
territorial, and provincial affiliate leaders to enterprises and vendors that effectively demonstrate an applicability in the
area of behavioral and mental health through their products and services.
About the APA | APAPO State Leadership Conference
The State Leadership Conference (SLC) is the annual advocacy training conference for leaders in professional psychology
practice. The conference brings together psychologists from the states, U.S. territories and Canada, along with APA
governance and divisions, to advocate for issues important to practicing psychologists. The conference also fosters
leadership and effective governance strategies for participating associations. Past conferences have brought together
nearly 500 psychologists and association professionals. The conference culminates in a day of advocacy on Capitol Hill. Past
Hill visits have brought psychologists face-to-face with legislators to increase the public’s access to psychological services —
for example, in achieving true mental health parity and advocating for meaningful health care reform. More information
about the State Leadership Conference can be found at www.apapracticecentral.org/advocacy/state/leadership.
2016 Conference Theme
The 33rd Annual State Leadership Conference theme is “Expanding the Practice Spectrum.”
The 2016 theme will focus on the skills and advocacy needed to support the entire spectrum of traditional and alternative
practice models. Whether working in a traditional private practice, under a management services organization, or as part
of an integrated hospital-based system, psychologists will continue to evolve their practices to meet technological,
economic, and regulatory challenges.

In the thirty-two year history of the State Leadership Conference, our event has had the pleasure of partnering with The
Trust. Historically, The Trust has sustained SLC's legacy of advocacy and leadership through in-kind support by providing the
SLC registration bags, as well as monetary support through partial funding of past SLC receptions. Since 2014, The Trust
expanded its support to include conference wireless internet access. Given their notable contributions throughout the
existence of SLC, The Trust is recognized as the SLC Legacy Sponsor.

Continuing Education Technology Sponsorship
New in 2016, we are expanding our sponsorship options to facilitate an upgrade to our continuing education (CE) procedures
all conference CE-Approved programming. One third of our conference attendees utilize the continuing education offering at
State Leadership Conference. For thirty-two years, the CE process has been fully manual via pen and paper. In 2016, we seek to
upgrade our procedures for tracking and awarding continuing education credits through beta-testing the use of a 100%
paperless technology, such as RFID (radio-frequency identification). The ground-breaking introduction of paperless technology
to revamp and enhance CE procedures will deliver a significant amount of exposure to attendees for sponsors who select this
category. The Continuing Education Technology Sponsorship can include:
